According to reports this morning, green card holders are not banned. They are being screened more closely.

There are a lot of factual errors being made by the loony left as they scream racism and bigotry from their safe spaces.

EG. It is not a muslim ban (not yet) - it bans people from certain countries who have limited vetting procedures in place, and those countries have 6 months to get those procedures setup or the ban will not be lifted.  No more easy 'free entry'.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes, USA is discussing improving vetting procedures for all refugees from all the moderate countries.

This is just the beginning of the beginning - it aint even the end of the beginning - there is more to come - much more.

>>Despicable, using refugees to promote his brand.

...Isn't that exactly what Trump is doing...making Muslim refugees the bogeymen to appeal to his redneck racist supporter base, but taking care not to upset the UAE and Saudi Arabia (not on his list even though the home base for 9/11 and funding to ISIS)..not good for his business interests.

Except of course that the vetting procedures aren't limited They are very severe and strict.  This is been pointed out several times but in the case of some people, their ignorance is invincible.

No, but for braking the first amendment.

"The First Amendment guarantees freedoms concerning religion, expression, assembly, and the right to petition.  It forbids Congress from both promoting one religion over others and also restricting an individual’s religious practices.  It guarantees freedom of expression by prohibiting Congress from restricting the press or the rights of individuals to speak freely.  It also guarantees the right of citizens to assemble peaceably and to petition their government"

When protesters are violent, they have been arrested. To paint the anti-trumpist protesters as  largely violent is totally false.

What??  Where have you been hiding lately??

You need to keep up with current affairs - maybe try someone other than CNN.

Otherwise you will become even more ignorant of what is really going on.

There is always a certain level of risk, but the actions that took place in the past couple of days raised the risk level dramatically.

Unfortunately, I fear we will not have to wait long....and then all who support this atrocious order can come back and say

"Gee, no one could have predicted this reaction..."

Clarity for Brits:

Presidential executive order on inbound migration to US

Mods: Any chance of channeling anything containing the words 'Trump' or 'Brexit' into their own single location so that world news does actually contain the occasional story that is neither British or American?

Short-sighted, lame, bigoted decision by Trump.

How about getting tough, real tough, with governments in the Islamic world (there are several of them), which are either turning a blind eye to Islamist terrorism or not doing enough about it ?! I mean, imposing various tough sanctions on them.

Sadly, business deals win the day over such considerations.

it is based on nationality?  if so it's a slam dunk that most American's are dumber than any where else.... if the list doesn't have Saudi Arabia at the tippy top.

even folks in the DPRK are not that brainwashed.

so USA is really dumb.  how could they possibly not put Saudi Arabia on that list????

we know why..... but doing this will have a backlash.... of less security we can guess.

None of the countries from which the September 11 terrorists originate and their sponsors,  are on the interdiction list.

Coincidentally, they are countries where the Trump empire has financial interests : business first

The stated reason for barring refugees—to protect Americans—is not just a lie, it's total BS.

The actual number of refugees who have become extremists in the United States has been estimated at between three and 12 — out of the more than 800,000 who have resettled here since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

https://www.newamerica.org/in-depth/terrorism-in-america/who-are-terrorists/

Whatever terrorist attacks have happened in America since 9/11 have been at the hands of homegrown terrorists not refugees or immigrants.

From 1975 to 2016, not a single American was killed in a terrorist attack on US soil from any of the 7 countries banned by Trump.
~ source: Alex Nowrasteh, CATO institute.

Meanwhile, in the same period, the number of Americans killed by other gun-toting Americans: 300,000

So what is the purpose of this flurry of activities and Executive Orders?

To create chaos, sow divisions, rile up anger, help Bannon and his team of white supremacists identify staunch supporters/collaborators who can be counted on to join their future Brownshirts, identify enemies among the opponents who could lead resistance, who pose threats.

The chaos is also a prelude to stricter security laws.

The following are from past interviews Trump and Bannon have given. If reading it gives you a boner instead of a chill—congratulations, you're a future collaborator in the destruction of democracy.

It's not a ban, just a temporary hiatus until the US nails down their screening processes.

When you make somebody sit in the back of the bus, it doesn't matter whether it's for 100 days or 100 years. Trump's action was a calculated and mean-spirited humiliation. There was no imminent need for this, other than to satisfy his narcissistic need to appear presidential.

As I recall, the Iranian government had approved of and was defending the people who were holding members of the American Embassy hostages. This was an act of war.

So it was completely legitimate to call in and check on  citizens of what had become a hostile country.

I am not aware that any of the governments of the countries whose citizens are now banned from entering the US have emulated Iran's conduct.

Morever, the text of the photo isn't even honest. No one was deported because he or she was a Shiite.

You can read more about what Carter did on Politifact. The text partially addresses Trump's call at the time to ban Muslims. That part obviously isn't relevant now.

Nice that we're getting the trumpist propaganda here so we don't have to look for it ourselves. NO EQUIVALENCE between these two situations. Also keep in mind Guiliani has confirmed trump was seeking a FULL MUSLIM BAN to do it legally, but found that was not possible, so what he did was an alternative with the same intent. So fooling nobody including global peaceful Muslims. Imagine how many terrorists the insane clown president has created with this idiotic Muslim ban?

Send all the lawnmowers to Gitmo!

Trump's actions are not about safeguarding Americans, it's about feeding red meat to his Deplorables. And it's working.
