Pattaya police Wednesday arrested a 73-year-old Danish man for having allegedly lured a 17-year-old boy to have sex with him in exchange for Bt500 in cash.

 

Arne Nielsen was arrested at a Pattaya bar at 11 am.

This was a special Thai variant of "below the age of consent":

 

"The age of consent in Thailand is 15 regardless of gender or sexual orientation, as specified by article 279 of the Thai Criminal Code The current legislation applies to all regardless of gender or sexual orientation...............having sex with an adolescent under 18 is a compoundable offense even with the consent of that person. In this case sort of: "It's only a crime if you want it to be".   In order to enjoy the delights of "compensation"?

Which was not so in this case.

Arrested on a warrant issued on Tuesday was Arne Nielsen. He has been charged with having sex with a minor under the age of 18.

On the other hand it may be seen that the 17 yo is more of a risk of doing a runner than the 73 yo Dane......................

 

Both guilty of crimes, but it does seem strange that after 'the act' the boy reported it. Accompanied by members of a 'welfare group'. IMO the 'welfare group' didn't do much to prevent the consensual act in the first place.

 

Unless something else happened that hasn't been reported, and if that were the case then I would agree that not all is as it seems.
