This type of police/Army raid will continue because the powers that be do not like the sex business as it exists and Walking Street is a target. They are determined to drive it out of Walking Street so they can turn it into upscale hotels/ boutique shopping and restaurants catering to the Chinese and other 'preferred' tourists.This is the Thai way of getting their will- keep harassing until the owners relocate away or the business dies.

From the pictures it looks like they are succeeding- not much business and  I am sure the man in the pic will take his business elsewhere. The employees who are mostly poor will be the ones hurt as well as the families that depend upon them.

im also getting sick of hardly any seats to sit on at beach road and having to sit on the dirty pavement also the beach and sea at beach road is filthy and needs cleaning up , they are having a laugh

There's a group of farang who bring their own chairs, they sit on that raised thing at the sidewalk and drink beer.

 

But you're right, there should be many benches and nice corners to sit, they are building something though, no idea what it is.

 

Whole thailand needs a good high pressure cleanup, don't they have any machines to clean the filthy streets/pavements? Streetvendors should pay for that. Or the policemen who let them sell on the streets.
