DUBAI (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump's eldest sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump were guests of honor at the opening of a Trump-branded golf course in Dubai on Saturday, the first Trump property project launched since their father's inauguration.

Speaking on a stage in front of the clubhouse at the Trump International Golf Club Dubai, Donald Trump Jr. praised the development of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a close U.S. ally that is also a global trade, transport and tourism hub.

"To see the incredible vision Sheikh Mohammed has been able to put forward for this country is truly awe-inspiring," he said, referring to UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum.

"As a developer, which lets us be somewhat artists at times, it is truly incredible to be part of that vision."

A ceremony featuring fireworks and a classical music ensemble marked the opening of the project announced by the Trump Organisation and Dubai-listed developer DAMAC Properties in 2013.

The relationship between President Trump and Damac Chairman Hussain Sajwani came under scrutiny last month when then-President-elect Trump said without elaborating that he had turned down a $2-billion deal offered by Sajwani because he did not want to "take advantage".

President Trump's sons praised their close relationship with Sajwani in their remarks. Eric Trump said Sajwani was "a great friend" with a "truly amazing family".

"We are going to have a lot of fun years together and this is just the beginning of those days," Eric Trump said.

The Trump International Gulf Club Dubai is part of a 42 million square foot wider development known as DAMAC Hills, according to DAMAC. Sajwani said it was the first new golf course to open in the city in "many years".

Trump has been criticized for not distancing himself enough from his family business, the Trump Organization, since he was elected president in November.

DAMAC pays a licensing fee to the Trump Organization to use the Trump brand.

Last month, before the inauguration, Trump announced that he would maintain ownership of his global business empire but had handed control to Donald Jr. and Eric while he is president.

The Trump organization would not enter into any new overseas deals while he is president, Trump adviser Sheri Dillon has said.

And a ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for a Trump property in Vancouver on Feb. 28.

On the other side of the world, in Vancouver, British Columbia, preparations continued for another ribbon-cutting, on Feb. 28, at a new Trump hotel and condo project there, funded by the Malaysian tycoon Tiah Thee Kian and his son, Tiah Joo Kim.

How many millions of dollars per week are US taxpayers required to pay for Trump's 4 kids to go prancing around the world to beef up their businesses?  Some of their business dealings involve dealing drugs (Trump Vodka).   Trump doesn't even contribute to the multi-million dollar security and travel expenses for his kids via a portion of his taxes - because he doesn't pay taxes, ha ha ha ha ha.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) often uses its affluence to mask the government’s serious human rights problems. The government arbitrarily detains, and in some cases forcibly disappears, individuals who criticized the authorities, and its security forces face allegations of torturing detainees. A new anti-discrimination law further jeopardizes free speech and is discriminatory, as it excludes references to gender and sexuality. Authorities denied access to the country to activists who criticized the UAE’s mistreatment of migrant workers.  Labor abuses persist, as migrant construction workers facing serious exploitation. Female domestic workers are excluded from regulations that apply to workers in other sectors.

I thought the Secret service protection was only for wives and dependents. Adult kids not employed by the gov should be paying their own way.

Especially when profiting off his father's name.

Seems the US taxpayer is picking up the tab for the whole family.

This month, The Post reported that Secret Service and U.S. Embassy staffers paid nearly $100,000 in hotel-room bills to support Eric Trump’s trip to promote a Trump-brand condo tower in Uruguay.

I have it on the full authority of the POTUS that is "fake news".

The protection of the Office is the white elephant of the Republic. There is no constraint at all on the expense and measures implemented by the new praetorian guard. Except for the President alone. Obama questioned $11bn being allocated to the marine helicopter fleet. We now see protection services extended to non dependent adult children of the current President. Perhaps 45's excesses will result in more media attention on some of the uncontrolled and unconstrained attack on basic freedoms in the name of protecting the Office.

That said, I don't complain about SS protection for the male adult spawn of 45. They are such douche bags that they need it.

Already, the countries of world are being divided into 3 groups, in Trump's and Bannon's view:

>>> Those that host Trump businesses

>>>  Those that don't yet have Trump biz

>>>  Those that Trump and Bannon don't know about or care about.

Countries which have Trump businesses, like Russia and Dubai (and there are about 2 dozen others) never have to worry about US sanctions or aggression, no matter how agregious their actions.

Countries which don't host Trump businesses can be threatened, harassed, and suffer the vented anger or Bannon or Trump - as easy as you or I would swat a fly.

One conclusion:  if a country doesn't want to be bullied by the US, it would be smart to bring in Trump branded businesses.  Additionally, such countries' diplomats would be smart to stay at Trump venues whenever possible, whether in the US or overseas.  Nothing will bring a smile to Trump's lips faster than him knowing you're paying money to him, directly or indirectly.

Money talks ,,,, reality walks

Why do we continue to support these middle eastern countries in all sorts of ventures including airlines

when you know that they are supporting, aiding & abetting terrorism all around the free world

Why don't you ask your potus, Trump, that question? He is the one that say he will take care of the American people!

But inthe mean time, he uses the tax payers money for his own business.

The amazing part of this is, that so many people believe everything that comes out of his mouth!

And about the free world, keep supporting your clown president and see what will be left of a free world!

No doubt the Trump empire will reimburse the government for the expense to the taxpayers to open their new property in Dubai.....

The government could always add it to his tax bill.

Wait a minute, what tax bill?
