Buses From Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya and Back.

Due to the buses from both Mochit and Ekkamai fueling up about 10 mins before Pattaya bus terminal, and the heavy traffic when you get in to or leave Bangkok, I

am looking to find out about the buses from Swampy to Pattaya and back.

It is very quick and convenient to get a train to Swampy, then a bus to Pattaya.

But where do you get a bus in Pattaya back to Swampy?

A question that has been discussed frequently.

I move the thread to the Pattaya forum where you will get response quickly.

I leave the answer to the locals.

All Pattaya expats on the beach?

The other alternative is Bell Bus with pickup service from hotel/condo.

Of course you can also board on Pattaya Nuea (northern) bus terminal.

Coach schedule:
06:00/09:00/11:00/13:00/15:00/17:00/19:00

Coach fare:
250 THB /person

From Jomtien bus station is cheaper. About 120 Baht.

Hourly departure.

On the Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya direction I had mixed experience. Not refuelling but doing significant detours to north of Naklua, U-Turn, stopping in the middle of the road for some ladies unloading lot of bags etc. Driver earning some extra money. Cost almost 30 min extra trip time.

Bell Bus never did any "specials".

Not correct about extra money for driver..

It is standard procedure that they make 4 stops,  Nua,Klang,Tai and final stop Thepprasit/Thappraya station.

I use them  very often

From Jomtien to the airport is usually no problem; buy or pre-buy a ticket @THB 120, hop on and go.

From the airport to Jomtien is described as convenient, but extreme long waiting times (up to 2,5-3 hours) will be part of your trip.

I'm not sure whether you can buy a ticket for airport -> Pattaya at the Jomtien office.

Not what I refer too.

These 4 stops were done as usual additionally to what I describe.

The bus that I rode did not go along HW7.

It instead drove along HW36 to Sukhumvit.

So far so bad already,

BUT then I expected he would do the left turn south down to Pattaya (which I experienced on another ride).

No, he turned right to the north heading towards Banglamung.

Don't know exactly how far he went, a couple of kilometers.

The doing a U-turn, dropping off a single lady at same intersection I never knew before.

Then down south and doing two more arbitrary stops before reaching Nuea.

I also used this bus more than once and this was exceptional.

Almost 2.5 hours to Klang.

The stops at North, Central, South and Thepprasit are planned stops....every additional stop is a "bonus"

Yes, the OP will be well advised about the waiting time.  You are allowed to purchase tickets in advance, but only on the same day that you are travelling.  If not, you are not likely to catch the next bus to Pattaya.  You are lucky if you can catch the next after the next.  I would add that the buses that ply between Airport and Pattaya are much better in terms of cleanliness, spaciousness and new compared to those coming out of Ekkamai.

No, you can't buy tickets from Airport to Pattaya @ Jomtien Office.

Sounds like 'Rong Poh' bus from Ekamai detours back up north and stop there often too

Then there'd be the stop in Naklua under the pedestrian bridge, then at the Temple opposite Bangkok Pattaya hospital

The airport to Pattaya road is packed every hour. I wonder why the operators have not seen fit to introduce a bus every 30 minutes.

They do occassionally.

This morning I got the 10.30 bus from the airport..

Around 10.00 they started selling already 12.00 tickets..Extremely busy..

Correct.

This is most probably the reason why they erased the schedule from their website.

They run more Buses according to demand. Though the number of Buses is limited as the Ekkamai route is extremely busy as well. Most spare Buses used on the Swampy - PTY route are originating from their Ekkamai and MorChit operations
