webfact
Mor Chit employee detained after innocent passenger shot waiting to buy a bus ticket Picture: Thairath BANGKOK: -- An employee responsible for the vehicle rank at Mor Chit bus station in Bangkok has been held after a female passenger was shot while waiting for a bus ticket. Chaiyaporn (Lor) Patsadorn, 45, gave himself up to Bang Seu police after the incident at the Northern Bus Terminal in Kamphaengphet Road on Saturday, reported Thairath. He arrived at the police station with a .38 revolver and a 9mm automatic weapon. He had licenses for both. On Saturday he had had the .38 with him at the bus station when he was having an argument with a man called "Go" over money at the rank. He told police that the gun went off and ricocheted off the ground in the direction of the passenger waiting to buy the ticket. Thirty one year old Batyaporn Saengubon was hit in the right ear and taken to Ratchathewi Hospital. Chaiyaporn said that after the incident he fled in a panic. But later he contacted the victim and paid for her hospital treatment and gave her compensation. He claimed that she was happy about that. Police charged him with having a weapon in public without good reason, discharging a weapon in public and negligence that might be a danger to others. He was detained as the investigation into the truth of his claims continues. Meanwhile, the head of operations at Mor Chit Jakrapong Jameuang has announced a tightening up of security at the bus station. He said that the shooter managed to enter the bus station from the rear so there was no metal detector that would have found his gun. In future everyone will need to enter the facility from the front through security, he said. Thaiwrath
Another Thai nutter with a gun. Although he was licensed for it, a severe punishment for discharging it in public would be appropriate.

JAG
Quite difficult for a revolver to go off accidentally, unless of course you are holding it, and have your finger on the trigger, in the course of your argument...

I have been through Mor Chit literally hundreds of times and have never gone through a metal detector. Albeit last time was about 3 months ago. IamNoone88
You might laugh, but there is very little care, resources or even recognition in Thailand to treat common and more serious "mental issues". The result is that a huge untreated population with issues ranging from anger, sociopathic and psychopathic tendencies are left to roam the streets untreated, Couple this with the ease to obtain any dangerous weapon or drive a get a license to drive, for example, a passenger mini-van. The result is what you read in the newspapers every day. That lady was "lucky" another two inches to the right and it would not have been her ear that was grazed. Stupidity shown by the police , who should lock the nutter up for a few years and take his guns and license off him. No wonder this country is in trouble with loonies on the roads and loonies with guns---- ='s a lunatic asylum.
hawker9000
It just "went off". Yeah. Right. OK. Gun control eightballs will just love this - it fits with their delusional fantasy that guns transport themselves, load, and fire all by themselves. For starters, revoke this idiot's licenses. Permanently. His stupidity and recklessness could've easily have killed somebody (how would he compensate THAT?) 'Wonder what this prodigy is like behind the wheel.... Anyway, ENSURE he actually has fully compensated the victim .... FAIRLY (maybe get a nice expensive lawyer to advise the victim first...). Then humiliate him in open court, make him pay a huge fine, and then lock him up for awhile just to make sure the point has been driven home. The Deerhunter
Well most revolvers (except very old ones) have a US government mandated interlock system which prevents the hammer reaching the primer unless the trigger is pulled all the way to the rear, at the same time as the hammer is released or forced forward, as in a fall. This goes back to the '70s or so. I suspect the argument with Mr Go had escalated to the point that the revolver was cocked and someone was excited and had his finger in the wrong place. There is a phenomenon called "Tachy-Cardia sydrome" (I think that name & selling is right) where the adrenaline prevents you from fine finger control and you do not even realize you have touched, let alone squeezed the trigger. This phenomenon has killed lots of people who get shot when cocked guns "go off by accident." Finger RIGHT OUT of trigger guard until you really mean it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Could have been a malevolent spirit. Pressed the trigger while the gun was in his pocket. That would explain the bad shot, hitting the ground and ricochet. Needs to go make some merit. Good to see the victim took it all so well. No police complaint.
