BANGKOK: -- ILLEGAL migrants from Thailand are living in fear in the United States as the new US administration under President Donald Trump issued a new order to crackdown on 11 million undocumented foreigners.

The Foreign Ministry yesterday also expressed concern about the new order, warning Thai people in the US to comply with the laws of the host country.

More than 100,000 undocumented Thais are believed to be living in the US.

“Basically, Thai nationals living and working in any countries must respect local laws. Undocumented people take their own risks if they were arrested and deported,” said Chittipat Thongprasert, deputy director-general of the Consular Department.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued tough new orders on Tuesday to begin a sweeping crackdown on illegal immigrants, putting nearly all of the country’s 11 million undocumented foreigners in the cross-hairs, according to AFP.

If they're legally staying in the US, they have nothing to fear from, however,

if they're not, than welcome to the same feelings of fear and apprehension many

foreigners are experiencing in the kingdom of Thailand....

I am wondering.... will the Thai Immy crack down on foreigners here in Thailand because they think Americans are being unfair to their brothers and sisters in the USA? Or, will they realize that what goes around comes around?

Finally the west is waking up. I hope Canada gets rid of Trudeau... the jack arse has decided not to crak down on people jumping the border from the US to Canada...

So, what he is saying is, "Come and suck our resources, screw my electors"

(Sorry for going a bit off topic... just need to let some anger out!!!)

Trump is just following Thailand's Good guys in, Bad guys out...

As with other Trump orders, the message is confusing. Some congressmen/border patrol are saying that any undocumented alien in the US is a criminal - period. A misdemeanor such as a parking ticket is no less than a more serious criminal offense for the purposes of deportation. So there are no "good guys" among undocumented aliens.

On the other hand some congressmen/border patrol consider only those undocumented aliens convicted of serious criminal crimes like theft, harm and drug dealing are the "bad guys" to be deported.

What is missing is a comprehensive immigration policy that the Republican Congressmen have largley resisted, despite some of their own leadership efforts to pass legislation.

In the interim Obama's policies could be continued (especially as Trump is essentialy using them, albeit with greater bombastic pronouncements), while Congress formulates a comprehensive policy. But Trump cannot allow such direction as it plays against his theme of imminent danger caused by undocumented aliens to American security.

When has the US Congress worked, without a series of high powered meals and parties?

They need to put them all in Jail, in cells with 40-50 with one toilet and no beds to sleep on, give them twice a day a slice of old bread and keep them for 30 days before deportation, Than blacklist them from getting back in the US.

That the way Thai treat foreigners on simple overstay, so over there they should be treated at least the same.

"Undocumented" haha. That's like calling a murderer an "early exit director".

The liberal media creates euphemistic terms to the point of lying by omission. Four weeks ago, CNN actually changed the words used by a US police chief given at news conference .  The police chief  referred to an assailant that had ambushed and tried  to murder a police officer as being  "illegally in the United States". CNN changed his words from the transcript from to "an out of status resident"

As they should.  Illegal Mexicans in the US have become far more brazen.  I've seen some interviewed on television/internet, no problem admitting they are in the country illegally, tugging at the liberal heart string because their kid, who they brought into the country illegally, might end up being separated from them.  As if they bear no responsibility for creating that situation.  One American woman broke down in tears on camera trying to talk about how terrible the US Government was for "ripping families apart".  Always use those terms, "ripping" "tearing".

I don't see any confusing message 32:32 .There is a priority to deport up to 900k  of the illegal immigrants that are a serious threat to safety. If it so happens they are living with other illegals (2 birds with one stone). The DACA issue will be dealt with in the future. Many polls have people wanting  a more lenient tolerable approach to a solution.

Brazen , is a bit of an understatement ! They carry Mexican flags at protests in the USA , demand free yservices and attempt to besmirch the reputation of any law enforcement or political entity that wants to enforce USA immigration law.

If there are 100,000 Thais living illegally in the USA , I'm surprised . They must be doing a fair job of assimilating and stay out of trouble.

Thais in general seem to be on the quiet side here in California or on the other coast in Florida.  I don't very few of them in the casinos around the Los Angeles or San Diego area, certainly very very few compared to the numbers of Vietnamese or Filipinos.  At Barona at the pai gow table, English is easily the third language behind Viet and Filipino.   I don't know that the Thais assimilate but they seem to not stand out.  At the various Wat Thais I frequent. there really don't seem to be large numbers, San Diego, Melbourne Fl.  Of course Thai Town in Los Angeles is different

I think the every 90 address reporting requirement adds up to 4 times a year.

90 day reports are not the only way a foreigner needs to report his/her address. You need to report any time you stay in a new place for more than 24 hours (see TM28 form). A typical foreigner, doing an occasional trip or staying at a friend's house, who wants to comply with the letter of the law, will be reporting a lot more than 6 times a year!
