Strawberries in Isaan

Featured Replies

Is anyone growing strawberries in Isaan? Can they be grown in that region and if so, how successful are you?

The wife bought a strawberry plant from a shop just south of Buriram, she paid 300 baht for it. It has been producing fruit for the past 6 weeks, we keep it covered to stop the birds eating the strawberry's. It dose not need anything special but the fruit are nothing special, a bit bland.

Thanks for the reply.

300 THB for a single plant? That sounds outrageous. Any pics? Is the fruit of any substantial size?

The plant came in a 12" pot, the wife told me there was to variety available she bought the cheapest. There was a plant called Belgian white it cost 500 baht.

We can buy a pack of strawberry's in our local market for 100 baht, I would say the plant has produced approximately 500 baht in 6 weeks.

Hi dingdongrb! I've sent you a message re strawberries.

My wife grows and sells them in Korat, on a small scale albeit.
