Bangkok Airways aims to add long-haul flights in growth push

BANGKOK AIRWAYS is eyeing long-haul markets with plans to operate flights to the Americas, Africa and Europe. The expansion plans were announced yesterday as the carrier forecast it would be boost passenger numbers by 12-13 per cent this year.

 

“Bangkok Airways is interested in other continents such as Europe, the Americas and Africa, especially countries in South America that are projected to have high spending power,” Varong Israsena Na Ayudhya, vice president for sales, said yesterday.

I don't understand how they can call themselves a boutique airline...There's some free fruit for travellers but that's all said and done....I expected a kind of foodbuffet but all i got was a banana.

While your comment is amusing, I disagree. Have flown Bangkok Airways a couple of times and both were fine experiences. On time...nice lounge in Swampy with bevs and snacks...decent vegetarian special meal...and nice friendly service. Personally, I will fly them again. :thumbsup:

 

They will, however, need some longer range a/c for these long haul flights. A-319 is medium haul at best.
