Schwab almost immediately matched the $4.95 rate. (I have accounts with both, but prefer Schwab).  Price war in full force for US brokerages, e-trade also dropped commissions in response.

I've noticed the management fees on the ETFs are also in a price war, and Fidelity has their own versions of XLE, XLF, XLP, XLK, XLU......that you can buy and sell for free, but you must hold for 30 days or  pay 4.95 to sell. Scottrade is not what it used to be....that 20 $ fee for any split or reorganization is BS...they told me everybody does it...only aggravated batters.
