rooster59
Grieving Thai mum to bring son's corpse to Petchburi to seek justice Image: Daily News A grieving Thai mother says she will bring her student son's corpse to Petchburi to ensure everyone in a huge gang that murdered him is brought to justice. Twenty four year old TheerapongThitathan, a student at Silapakorn University was murdered in the student quarters on February 25th. Him and his friends were set upon by a gang of thirty people who had arrived in Petchaburi from Cha-Am. Daily News reported that many are the children of influential figures in the area. Theerapong was repeatedly stabbed in the head with a screwdriver. Four of his friends were injured. Apparently the gang were looking for a man called "Off" but attacked Theerapong and his friends when he was not there. Theerapong did not even know his attackers. The corpse was transported to Teerapong's hometown in Chumporn further south where his mother Areerat Chomloke spoke to reporters. She said she wanted justice for her son. She would not have him cremated until the case was properly resolved. And if the influential people are protected and their children not brought to justice she said she will take her son's corpse to Petchaburi to parade it at municipal offices. thesetat2013
Smart lady.. she knows if the attackers are from influential families they will never be brought to justice. The only way to get the police to act is to make a public display and get the people to make an outcry. Sometimes even that doesnt work.
djayz
Sorry for your loss. I'm glad to see that she's determined to to get justice for her son. It's only a question of time until money is offered to keep her away from Phetchburi. I sincerely hope she is in a financial position which allows her to turn it down. aussieinthailand
Go mum, publicly shame the BIB into doing their bloody job, disgusting that it has to come to this. But don't be surprised if the BIB threaten to sue her if she keeps up with the public shaming. Why do the media/BIB/military insist on calling the mafia/criminals influential people? How about low-life scum of the earth that the other low-life scum (BIB) are supposed to protect people from them...!
Confuscious
Bring it out to the outside world and let the world know what is going on behind these "smiles". That's the only way to wake up the powers that can change Thailand. RIP to the boy
colinneil
Trying to seek justice, no chance this is Thailand. The poor lady will never get justice, she isnt hi-so enough. The rich and powerful will always corrupt justice to protect their own.
Krataiboy
Obviously more to this tragic story than meets the eye. Inter-college rivalry, perhaps, or a clash between local gangs from the adjacent towns? Assumedly, the background to this horrendous attack - and the identity of the culprits - will be revealed, as this grieving mother continues her courageous fight for justice. On a personal note, I stopped my teenage kids from attending pop concerts and other events held on Cha Am beach as they almost invariably ended in violence. Unfortunately, the mindless mayhem will continue so long as Thailand clings to its macho culture and Thai mothers treat their sons like little gods compared with their daughters. If ever a country needed a dose of Women's Lib, this is it.
Prbkk
It will be an event such as this tragic one that will see the dead-beat mafia types lose their status. Thais have tolerated these so-called "hi-so " scumbags but one day, possibly sooner rather than later, these cretins are going to get swept away in a sea of outrage. It won't be pretty. The anger is brewing and fomenting.

Not saying that nothing should be done.. just making a point that power corrupts and people want to have power.. its almost impossible to change without good laws.. and even then... janejira
There are more details to this story in the Thai news than in the English news. From what I have gathered, it seems the motivation of the attack was over a relationship with a girl. The group of kids was looking for a boy who wasn't even in the room at the time. The students that were attacked and the student murdered were his roommates and didn't even know the attackers. They just happened to open the door to their room because they it was their friend. The whole thing is so sad.
Artisi
Just another day in the peaceful Buddhist country of Thailand. What a <deleted> sick joke, the land of corruption, murder, lying, hi-so controlled mayhem connections of me me me. Time the so-called leader smartened up and called a stop to it all before there is a real coup, not another pretend one.
