DSI vows to end temple standoff this week

BANGKOK: -- The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) strongly believes the defiant Phra Dhammachayo is still hiding inside the 3,000-rai Dhammakaya temple and vows to end everything within this week.

The DSI suspects the Boonraksa building in the temple which is used as a building for sick monks to stay to recover from sickness.

The building remains off-limit to authorities to search with monks and followers heavily protecting the entrance  with earth fence, ditch, oil drums, and nets obstructing eye observation from outside.

DSI authorities suspected the defiant monk is hiding in this building.

DSI deputy director-general Pol Col Songsak Raksaksakul said the prolonged standoff between authorities and followers and monks was leading to spreading of distorted information that the attempt to arrest Phra Dhammachayo was to destroy religion and caused misunderstanding.

Further delay would not be good for authorities, he said, adding that the decision on the search operation would be made soon.

And the stand off is leading to the spread of distorted information?

Well they are the experts on that sort of thing, so they probably recognise it when they see it.

I believe him.........some developments earlier makes me think that it (the standoff) will be over soon.

Just one more nail in the freedom of speech coffin. Gives them more ammunition to gag the media and license reporters.

I think we are well past this stage. Next step go to this building you believe he is in and grovel a bit. Pleading is also an option.

Soldiers raided gate 4 at 2pm this afternoon and were met with heavy resistance and were beaten back into a retreat. God help Thailand if the Burmese ever invaded. What a joke.

Here's the full video.

It's a colours thing. Had those resisting been wearing red clothing or student uniforms, skulls would have be cracked and claret running everywhere.

Why would this be - it's on the same property for which a warrant was issued?

Sounds more like an excuse in the making to give the monk time to move once again to somewhere "unknown." End of search.
