Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan insisted Friday that the government would not allow foreign countries to build weapon repair centres here alone without Thai participation.

The comment followed an unconfirmed report that Thailand had asked China to support the construction of such a centre.

Prawit said Thailand has a policy to allow prospective countries from which it buys weapons to establish repair centres here, but only with the country’s involvement.

This would help speed up repairs so that damaged weapons could be fixed quickly and become usable again.

Deputy Defence Minister General Udomdej Sitabutr, speaking at an army workshop on development of the country’s defence industry, said that the government had a clear policy to build a weapon repair centre.

A committee would be set up to oversee the task, he said. The work could be the sole operation by the state, a joint venture between the state and a private entity, or a private entity’s investment, he said.

A quick google of "Asian weapons repair centres" produces the OP and pretty much nothing else.

Could this be another first for Thailand, who knows, they could even become the hub of weapons repair.

So they build them in Laos Cambodia Burma or Vietnam. Those countries wouldn't hold out, and probably get big discount in the weapons purchased. Talk tuff but won't get u any where?:stoner:

Yeah, they could even test them for the Chinese, get the dissidents in line and go full auto. Win-Win.

If your buying "Made in China" weapons there is a real use for this facility. Good old Mr. P not to be left silent speaks out. Hard to tell who the real leader is here so  many different authoritarian comments.

Some  really really funny  comments  here when a significant  number of parts in US  Military  weaponry  and  military  aircraft  are   made in China.

And a  very significant percentage of  guns owned  by  Americans  are 100 %  made in China.

A Thailand  based Weapons  Repair  Facility could  actually be a viable possibility.

LMAO.
