Royal Enfield Bullet Or Chang Jiang Motorcycles

Thank you that is a start! Would be nice for a retired falang to have something like that to tinker with in the garage, take a chair, pop a brew and ponder if she needs a oil change or…! Nothing to race with but nice for a ride to the beach! Sidecar will be handy at old age when the balance is going north.

Something to wet the appetite!

One of the American sportbike magazines - perhaps Cycle World -had a comparison test a few years ago on 500/600 cheap singles and twins. The Kawasaki 500 Ninja twin won, followed by the bike I bought, Suzuki GS500E. The Royal Enfield finished dead last in every category.

If you really like classic looks, how about the Honda 500 single that looked ancient but had modern bits? Or one of the last Yamaha SR500's? Or restore a BSA Victor Gold Star or 441 Victor?

What a beauty! I wish that I could but I’m back in Farangland and will be for many months to come. As for Japanese bikes I have very little knowledge as they generally don’t appeal to me but I will goggle for the ones that were suggested. I know off one model called Estrella , think it is a Yamaha, that have the look of a “real” bike.

Its a Kawasaki Estrella NOT Yammy. Looks sort of retro but only 250cc :) . Yamaha SR400 is more popular and spares easier to get in LOS.

The big problem is finding a legally registered example (of either)
