PHUKET:-- An unidentified Thai man died after he fell from his bike and was hit by a van in Karon this afternoon.

“The accident took place at about 2:10pm on the uphill road from Chalong to Karon. At the scene, we found a man aged 30-35 years, lying in the middle of the road, with no identification documents on him,” said Capt Channarong Prakongkua of Karon Police.

The victim was rushed to Chalong Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

That's the second time I've read of an accident victim being rushed to Chalong Hospital. Perhaps the ambulance drivers should be informed that it's still a building site!

They threw this building up about a year ago when they were still dithering about when they would start building the hospital. It's an emergency treatment centre where they can stabilize patients before transporting them to a hospital.

Thanks Old Croc. I thought this was one of those small health centres like the one on Patak Road in Karon.

Ah Yes, The ole "slippery road" excuse and I suppose that SPEEDING had nothing to do with it.Wake Up Thais," A 30 mile per hour road or curve is NOT a 30 MPH road or curve On Wet Roads."

Ah, the old speeding excuse. Could it not be that one of the trucks using the road could have spilled a little diesel? Even in a straight line at 5mph, you could easily fall off a bike then. And you get no warning either.
