I will be renewing  my 1 year retirement visa next week  at Bangkok Imm. (for the 17th time) and I am wondering if their have been any changes in the procedure since last year.

1.     Income letter from    US consulate

2.     Completed TM 7

3.     Assorted passport copies

PS:     I know, it's a non-immigrant visa for retirement!!

No changes at Chaeng Wattana immigration to apply for an extension of stay (it is not a visa) based upon retirement that I am aware of.

Not Bangkok but I did mine in Jomtien last week and they asked for a copy of proof of address.  (3BB bill was fine).

CW Office Bangkok- Is the income letter from the US Embassy still good for 6 months from date of issue?

Yes

But they might question why you go it so early since you are living in Bangkok.

Have to go to Embassy next week for other business- thought I would get letter at same time-  letter will be 3 months old when I go to get extension.  Think Ok?

Yes

Just remember the affidavit falls under notary services for appointments. Unless your appointment is for that service they might not do it.

I need to do mine at Jomtien next month and I allways take a copy of my rental agreement plus utility charges as proof of address, allways been fine.......this next time however I have a new passport and the letter from the UK Embassy requesting they change my visa over....is this straightforward and any "extra" charges for doing this above the 1,900 baht fee?

When I got a new passport (2013) I got the visa (extension of stay) transferred over straight away rather than waiting for the next renewal date but it was done without any problems or charges.  Can't remember if there was an extra form to complete.

How many days before expiry  can you renew your retirement extension of stay at Chaeng Wattana.

Is it 30 or 45 days before??

Anybody know for sure? (I may need to access my 800,000 baht earlier than anticipated)

Ubonjoe.  Do you know how many days before expiry I can renew my retirement visa at Petchaburi please?

Not sure. But I would say 30 days since that is the norm at many offices.

For a letter from the embassy in Bangkok you will first need to make an appointment with the embassy.

Then there is a fee for the signature required (notary service).

Be aware they may need proof of residence at CW immigration.

You can get  copies of your needed  passport pages down on the first floor as well as photos  taken at the same place;

1 baht per passport page copy, and 100 Baht for 5 photos (need at least one for your application form at immigration for visa extension.)

But you probably knew all that.

Could you tell me if there is any leeway after the specified date of renewal? The reason I ask is that I have had an operation on my back in Bangkok and I should apply for renewal in Nakhon Phanom in about 18 days time, but I'd like a little longer to convalesce. Thanks for any information you might have.

There is no leeway to apply for the extension. After the date it ends you are on an overstay at 500 baht per day.

If your doctor was to do a letter stating you are unable to travel you could get an extension for medical treatment. You could authorize somebody to do the medical or your annual extension  for you.

Can anyone confirm if bank statements or income pay statements are required in addition to the Sworn Income Declaration from the Embassy?

That depends upon the office where you apply for the extension. There are a few offices that want back up proof for the declaration.
