PATTAYA: -- A South Korean tourist was left helpless as his Bt150,000 necklace was snatched by a motorcyclist on a Pattaya road late Tuesday night, police said.

The tourist, Kim Min Yan, 42, and his Thai girlfriend, filed a complaint at Pattaya Police Station at about 1.30am on Wednesday.

Kim said he and his girlfriend were on two motorcycle taxis en route to Soi Pattaya Beach 5 when a motorcycle caught up with his taxi and the rider snatched his necklace. He said the motorcyclist fled towards Pattaya Beach.

The South Korean said he bought the pendant necklace in South Korean for five million won, or about Bt150,000.

Police will check security cameras in the area to try to locate the motorcyclist.

Waiting for the guys here saying how criminal and dangerous place  Pattaya has become while infact its a much more peaceful city than  most European or American Cities.Gosh a chain got snatched big deal.

You are wrong. American and European tourist areas in tourist cities are much safer than the tourist area of Pattaya. That is why there are comments. Many petty crimes and assaults happen right on walking street, beach road and the streets nearby and no one gets caught almost always as well. There are less petty crimes and assaults in Times Sq and Trafalgar Sq.  Especially chains getting ripped off people's necks. Which is EXACTLY what this thread was about. You are wrong!

ROFL.  Yeah.  Like Chicago is typical...

OK.  Sure.  If you want to compare Pattaya with Chicago for crime & safety, though I can't imagine why any diehard apologist would want to, I'll buy that.

That's the first time I have seen the olfactory senses used as a gauge of Pattaya's criminality. Top marks for originality... but most likely it was the Beach Road poop factory that smelled bad.
