Where in Asia can I get a non-immigrant O visa based on Marriage?

Hong Kong doesn't offer multiple entries and Japan only offer's to those with residence.

What other options have I got? I'm looking to turn the visa trip into a small vacation, so would be grateful for ideas. Thanks!

You can get one at the Thai consulate in Savannakhet Laos with no financial proof required.

Penang Malaysia does them but you need to show 400k baht in the bank or proof of income.

Jakarta might be a location to get one.

If you want to make a longer trip the embassy in Seoul Korea has been reported as issuing them.

I presume most people here will recommend savannakhet but I find Penang to be more appealing and had no issue there getting mine. Stay at Chulia mansion and go to jims place 20 metres away and he will take care of the visa. Langkawi is also nearby.

What do u need to supply apart from 400k in a Thai bank account?

Do you need to show Thai wifes house book?

I can't remember exactly but I do remember taking it. Pretty sure I handed it over. I took probably more documents than was actually needed just to be sure. Just make sure they are signed by wife. They don't need to be dated.

Marriage certificate plus a copy, signed copies your wife's house book registry and ID card.

It doesn't have to be in a Thai bank.

Jakarta yes all above they are very strict everything by the book,  you also need to have Signed invitation letter from your wife plus copy of her passport, 400,000 in the bank for at least 3 months,

If anybody is applying for Non B Multiple Visa for work permit you must have Copy of Application sent to The Labor Office or reject,

Best Regards

Not easy to get there, but at the Thai embassy in Riyadh they give you a one year multi for 800 SAR. Last time I was there the guy offered it to me without me even asking.

Don't think that will be too helpful to the OP though, LOL.

What are the hours to submit your paperwork in Vientiane?

Applications for visas in Vientiane are 8:30 - 12:00. Allow a little time for photocopies and such. If your scheduled arrival is after 11:30, there may be some nail biting involved.

Is that for most regional applications or only Savannakhet ?

I was always under the impression the money had to be in Thailand for 3 months or something like that !

The discussion was bout getting the non-o visa in Penang. Savannakhet does not ask for financial proof.

The money has to be in a Thai bank for 2 months to apply for an extension of stay at immigration.

I prefer Penang too, just got a new non-O multi last week, easy enough to do it yourself.

How did you get to the Embassy?

Taxi.

Dropping the passport off I just had the driver who brought me down from Hat Yai call at the Consulate before taking me to my hotel.

Picking up the following day I just took a taxi from the rank opposite the hotel. They won't use the meter, you need to fix a price, I paid RM35 for the taxi to take me from the Cititel Hotel to the Consulate and back again.
