Is someone able to give a clear explanation about SUBSTITUTION HOLIDAYS in Thailand? What does the law say?

What happens if a holiday (like his Majesties birthday) fells on a Sunday?

How will that day be handled for non-Government/Bank employees?

Thanks!

I don't know what the law is about those days but i do know the feeling with my thai family who work at a large jewelry factory.

If the boss decides to give substitution days he is considred performing "nam yai".

This will then give a very good feeling with the employees and that will help tremendously (sp) with employees being loyal and happy working for you.

Just my families opinion.

Basically, I follow the government offices. If a national holiday falls on a day where the office is closed there is a substituation day on the following working day.

This is clear for Sundays. The holiday falls on a Sunday, Monday is closed. A bit more tricky, Saturdays. If your company usually works on a Saturday, no sustituation for a holiday. If the company, however, is closed on Saturdays (like government offices) substituation on Monday.
