The Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC), Krung Thai Bank (KTB) and the Government Savings Bank (GSB) reported that a total of 893,581 low-income people had registered for government welfare as of 5pm on Tuesday.

For Monday and Tuesday combined, BAAC reported 441,491 registrations, KTB 170,927 and GSB 281,163.

This second round of registrations commenced on Monday and runs until May 15.

So now I have the explanation for the huge crowds at Krung Thai today.

First I thought it is the elderly picking up their monthly 600 Baht "pension".

Another genius idea introduced lately (guess not only in our village?).

All elderly get a KTB account with passbook (no ATM card as it costs) and have to pickup their "pension" cash at the counter.

I feel with the employees at KTB.

Within this context, the thread "18 of state hospitals officially declared broke" (Thai News Sub-Forum) might be worth reading.

Cheers.

Correct, sir.

Plus the ones about purchasing plenty of submarines as well as tanks - Chinese crap, yes,  but still pretty expensive over all ... especially if you take into consideration that the money ain't in the coffers (anymore) ...

Work /work, you asking them to work, wash your mouth out, do not use that word.

Many poor people in the villages, would rather sit and drink all day, but work !!  no way !!

Now boys if that's true then it's a cultural thing and we unworthy farangs MUST respect that always.  You know, part of the 'love it or leave it thing.  Some wise old longtimer will be along shortly to right well admonish & rebuke you and tell us all about his kindly neighbor who built his house, planted his fields, and daily feeds his chickens & milks his cow just out of the goodness of his epically generous heart.  So show some respect.

Actually, we're all privileged to be present for and witness to the birth of the Thai welfare class.  Three cheers!!  Hip, hip ...

Well it seen very special to us looking at the huge amount of people going for welfare  it is the same in all countries where there is poverty and now will be more into the light since refugees will increase the demand for getting money and not working at least in Europe and America so here is just something that happen a little late in time  but at least there will be some way of surviving for the locals.

Look it is the same in The USA with the Mexi and in Canada as well they let other immigrants to come and work and our own people are too lazy or their family orirgin where that welfare is the only way to live and I have seen it so this problem is all over the globe.

One way to fix all of that is you want welfare there is some work for you to do and if you don't show up you are cut off.(Simple).

One thing really tick me off while having a drink at the pub someone came and made conversation and we start to describe what we were doing for work and the person i was talking with said to me that he was on welfare and he did never work a day in his life and telling me that i was a sucker working to make a living.

That sort of thing is real, and believe me or not the new immigrants all know how to take advantage of that system that you and I are paying so much for.
