Commerce opens first Thai fast food shop at PTT petrol station in Suphanburi

The Commerce Ministry yesterday opened the first low priced fast-food restaurant at the PTT petrol station in Suphanburi province to service travellers during the Songkran festival.

The launch of the Thai fast food, 35 baht for a plate, was a cooperation between the ministry and PTT Plc.

The launching ceremony was presided over by the ministry’s permanent secetary Mrs Wiboonlak Ruamraksa.

She said such restaurants will be expanded to cover other PTT gas stations across the country.

From what I've noticed about local dishes here over the years is they've got considerably more expensive and smaller.

Be interesting to see how big these dishes are.

"Meanwhile the ministry also plans to open the so-called Blue Flag shop at local communities to offer consumer goods at cheaper prices than the market."

And so putting Thai food providers out of business.

Genius.

The petrol stations are only a start .....They want to roll this monster

out all over the country...I bet millions of people make a living in

Thailand with small food stands from Bangkok to the smallest village..

The current independent Thai food sellers already sell food at a

very modest price but I doubt they can match a government subsidised 35 baht..

So the only possible purpose of this program would be to drive

independent Thai food sellers out of business...

Thailand is hurting for low cost meals about as much as Eskimos

are hurting for snow....

Cool!  Should also help reduce the parking issues at PTT 7/11s.

Putting people out of work.  What is the intended outcome?
