Bangkok is a paradise during Songkran
Photo and story by Kunlaphun Siripimamporn

BANGKOK: -- Bangkok residents who decided to stay behind or those having to work holiday shifs in the capital city have the rare opportunity to see almost empty roads during this Songkran.

Phetchaburi Road's section near Pratunam Intersection, which would normally be congested with vehicles and pedestrians, now has fewer vehicles and people around.

Hardly a "paradise", but a bit more elbow room for a short time. Just this morning was able to simply walk across Ramkhamhaeng Road rather than the up and down of pedestrian overpass.

Yeah, almost livable.

Still not time to head for the hills of lets say Chiang Mai??? You have suffered enough.

It's only a paradise in non-residential areas, it's Hell everywhere else with noisy street parties and idiots throwing water everywhere.

Yes, the impertinence of Thais to celebrate their new year! :burp::intheclub:

I hear that it is also very hot in Thailand right now, most uncomfortable.  Good luck to all thepeople in

Thailand, I hope the death and accident numbers stay low this year, but I doubt it.  Charge those who

are making life hard on others by breaking the rules, and throw some in jail as well as fine them all and

make some good money out of this festival.  Have Fun!

Wine yes but not at 300% import tax, so shove it until I arrive in Wine country and where they tax Thai rice at 300%  so now I am happy but will ask for Cambodian or Vietnamese rice in my next meal as they do not demand import tax like this lot of clowns
