please help - want to jump around islands in thailand, am a solo traveler going for my 30th bday and need advice of which island to stay on.

Thinking Krabi or Ko Chang?? bali?? Phuket?? Coming from America. SOLO traveler!! Whats the best place so that I may visit a few other islands while staying on one in particular. Want to do a few day trips but don't want to keep changing hotels. Want an island with much to do, white sandy beaches, culture, waterfalls, excursions and such like boating, animals, and some local fun and partying. where to?? Please advise, have to book from beginning of May for two weeks.

Think the best (Andaman Sea) isn't good that time of year &/out of bounds.
I liked Khao Lak or Lanta but maybe Chang might be ok then, not sure.
