sorry starting a business and getting a work permit

Who will be your 51% shareholder or do you plan running the 'school' on your own?

Who will be your Thai employees?

That is all looked after I am just trying to get my head around what capital is

The questions you ask although well meaning are not pertinent to my question

The page only lists the company registration for the work permit application which would need to be registered as a 2 million baht company. It does not mention you need to prove paid up registered capital.

If you will be applying for a one year extension of stay based upon working for a company that is when the proof of paid up registered capital would likely be needed.

It is my understanding it does not have to be cash on hand. It can be what the company owns.

Thanks Joe

I have done a lot of renovating and purchased new equipment

One further question

Can I just switch from the old guy extension to the work

If you mean an extension based upon retirement the answer is no. You may  have to leave and re-enter the country on a tourist visa or visa exempt entry to apply for the work permit.
