Phuket Chinese tourist dies during island day trip

PHUKET: -- A Chinese tourist has died after being pulled from the water unconscious and in shock at Racha Yai Island on Saturday (April 22).

 

Police reported that Chen Hangsheng, 62, from Shanghai, was on an island tour organised by Jie Yun Co Ltd.

 

he tour group departed Chalong Pier on board the Pako, helmed by Capt Samruay Moranin, and arrived Koh Racha Yai at 1:30pm, led by tour guide Suthee Maliwan, 24, reported police.

Why comment if you don't have all the facts, let alone read?

The 62 year old  man was wearing a life jacket.

I will not be surprised if the man suffered a stroke or heart attack or burst aneurysm.

People who smoke, or who have pre-existing chronic illness die suddenly.

Stop blaming Thailand because sick people die.

The Chinese seem to either ride a bike even though they have never done so before or go snorkeling even though they have never been in the water before.

 

Both are a recipe for disaster.

..going on holiday and trying different things..the way it is world-wide.

Yes, premature to ascribe blame of any kind in this case. Not so , though in dozens or hundreds of other cases in which tourists have met with injury, illness, death as a DIRECT CONSEQUENCE of Thailand's unsafe environment ( road, sea, air, land) and the fundamentally duplicitous way tourism is marketed.

More Brits and Australians die in Thailand than any place else; I dare say the same is true for China. Some...many, maybe most are natural deaths, others are avoidable.
