Non Imm "O" - return ticket

Guys, mai I ask you plse.... My friend is coming here to Thailand on a Non Immigrant "O"-VISA,  with the purpose to apply later for an extension of stay..

 

Some people have suggested to him, that he needs to have a return ticket out of Thailand. But that surely is just crap-talk...  I cant really imagine that he needs to show any return ticket as long as he has a VISA???

 

Or am I am wrong??

A return on onward ticket is not required if a person has any valid visa tor entry.

If required he can buy only ticket out of country. Bangkok - Vientanie (Laos) is around 1500 Baht. And he don't even have to take that flight later.

I know that there is a law some where amongst the airline code that states the above but sometimes the airlines still demand this

Happened to me once & tried to explain that i had a visa ( pretty sure i was on a M/E marriage - well would of been - never had a TV ), so i had to go to the trouble of firing up computer to show them since i could not print it out prior

They say its for your own safety
