Two more boats to ply Pattaya - Hua Hin route later this month

PATTAYA: -- Two more high speed catamarans will soon be plying the Pattaya to Hua Hin route after the successful introduction of the service that began in February.

 

Sophon Cable reported on Facebook that "Royal 2" and "Royal 3" are set to join the original "Royal 1" service after checks have been made of the boats.

 

Pattaya harbor master Ekachai Khantaro said that the service introduced by Royal Passenger Liner Co Ltd had been as expected and now the service is set to be expanded.

 

The two new boats have virtually the same specifications as "Royal 1" but are in fact a little larger. They can each carry 350-360 passengers.

 

Ekachai said that after seaworthiness checks have been completed it will be decided what schedule the new boats will follow that will best suit the needs of the travelling public.

 

He expected things to be ready for the service to be expanded to three boats later this month.

The one boat they use now is 25% full.   Might want to lower the price and offer something to do/eat on the boring and rough 2 hour trek.

i am sure the authorities would have calculated the anticipated demand before scheduling additional trips. i wonder what the latest occupancy rates are on the original boat.

This company, in its own name and boat names, sure seems to be throwing around the "R" word quite liberally...

 

Kind of makes you wonder who's actually behind this venture...

Well, the ownership behind King Power is pretty well known, being a very wealthy Thai family, the ones that bought the English football club.

 

On the other hand, I've never found/seen a single mention of exactly who is behind the ferry boat service. Conspicuously absent in all articles I've ever read.  Though whomever it is, they did seem to manage to get a Thai Navy ship escort for some of their early trips... Wonder how that was arranged???

They operate the same way as 711 it seems. 711 Will build a shop and if it makes money the build one across the road as then at the other corner, thus keeping out the opposition. They have 90 passengers per trip at present and that was high season and good weather.

It is very easy to launder money with a lot of show and prompt in a failing business .thus preventing the questions of why someone is living an  extremely rich lifestyle.You just fake the books showing a large income for the business and paying the income tax as your "illegal" business brings in the cash.

Very strange move considering they struggle to fill up more than 50% on the one they got. If they want Thais to use the service the price must go down to 300 baht one way.

Forgot to add-  If they let me take my E-Bike onboard so I'm not at the mercy of the taxi mafia wherever I would end up for a weekend getaway from the Big City...

Add a ferry where you can put on cars and bikes and sell FOOD and BEER ETC. Not two more same ferries Just the one that I suggest adds an extra type of service. Christ so obvious. Give me a job running this moron management. They will make BIG money

As I recall, that's the plan.  But I suspect the delivery time on purpose built boats will have us well into 2018 before we see any car carrying ferries delivered, unless they can find some surplus ferries that can dock in the rather spartan facilities available on both ends of the route.

 

Good to see they're moving forward to test the limits of the market.

Looking at the price for Samui to Donsak 350-450 each way I would have thought they should be able to slash the price to 800B (1,600B round trip), When I sailed the Lomprayah  High speed cat that was about 25% full.

 

then assume each ferry (Pattaya/Hua Hin) does two round trips a day (assuming like Samui the do not sail in the dark), with 80 passengers average, that's about 500 round trip passengers, 800,000B a day, add other services some freight, VIP lounge, Catering, should easily be profitable.

I  agree moving forward but I think it's  in a non profitable direction at this stage by adding two more same style ferries and wharves that are basic especially at Pattaya. That is, the powers to be should focus on two wharves that can off load passengers, cars etc at both ports . Major investment but in the long run capital invested with good returns and ongoing profits long term. Further, no one has commented on the fact that one ferry operating now, aside from no  food or yummy beer selling and totally a non smoking boat  etc was only about 50% full in FEB 2017.  Why add two more ferries until the one operating is at least 80 % plus  capacity  especially during peak seasons?

80 passengers and they all have return trips. Questionable on that alone?

 

Ok  Here we go: 2(trips of boat ) *80 (passenmgers) *1600 B (return trip per passenger) EQUALS = 256,000 Bah.

 

So where do you calculate 800,000 Bah or 500 round trips. You the guy that ordered the other two ferries? LOL I won't invest in your ferries if you did.LMAO

the service to Koh Chang would be very attractive particularly now that there is no big bus anymore from Pattaya to Trat so I would pay a premium not to have to go by minivan.

that is provided   passengers have a cost-effective way of travelling between Sattahip port and Pattaya and would not be held ransom by the taxi Mafia:bah:

a bit like a certain tax free place then who also invest in football clubs
