Four dead, one injured as pickup enters oncoming lane
By The Nation

LOEI: -- Four people were killed and another severely injured when a speeding pickup truck crashed head on into an oncoming trailer truck in Loei’s Phu Kradueng district early Wednesday.

Police said the accident happened at 3am at the Ban Sampang intersection on Chumpae-Mueang Loei Road in Tambon Huaysom.

All of the victims were riding the pickup. The trailer truck driver was unhurt.

Three people, including pickup driver Boonsi Phosasin, 50, died at the scene, the fourth at hospital. The dead have not been identified.

Trailer truck driver Nisai Kanchanakanho, 46, told police the pickup was coming from the opposite direction and suddenly swerved into his lane in the middle of the intersection. The collision destroyed the pickup’s entire front end.

No charges have been laid, but CCTV footage from the scene is being reviewed.

Good riddance to driver Nisai.

Such irresponsible drivers are really a waste of oxygen.

Unfortunate for his band of cohorts though.

Yet another sad report, but it is just an on going reflection on the ability of drivers.

Road rage is common practice in all parts of the World but I've noticed here, drivers seem to dislike being passed and will do what they can to be first, especially young boys on smaller motorbikes.

Patience is a virtue.

I wonder if the injured was in the back. Must have been.

Will he be fined now for riding in the back with the new law.

That new law has long since been forgotten  Was never going to be acted on The Thai drivers know that The police were never going to enforce that law Easier collecting your tea money
