BANGKOK, 8th May 2017 (NNT) – The government is keen to recruit people with high potential to serve the country in the hope of achieving sustainable development.

Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, today disclosed that in February the cabinet had ordered the Office of the Civil Service Commission (OCSC) and the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission (OPDC) to revise employment terms for better incentives, compensation, and other benefits in order to attract competent workers.

According to the prime minister, persons with knowledge and skills will be the engine driving the reform transition, thus the government is looking for candidates.

Realizing the importance of human resource development, Gen Prayut said he had instructed related agencies to develop a curriculum for comprehensive training to be given to government officers, with the aim of attaining improved work efficiency.

The government in March launched a leadership skills training course for high-ranking officials, to help them to keep abreast of what’s going on in this digital-changing society.

So up to now, what calibre of people have they been recruiting / employing ?

So how are the going to compete with the private sector in offering benefits?

Do they really think the new graduates will rush to government service "for the good of the country"?

That's good news.  That means both of the highly skilled Thai will have jobs.  Then they'll have to settle for incompetent Thai for all positions.

For this to have any chance of success, a work permit will need to be part of the package.

The problems is that Thais don't have the sense of loyalty or pride in their work place,

I have learned  the hard and costly way long time ago that Thai workers

will get up and leave at the first sign of discontents with other employees

or managements, and if someone else offer them a bit more money in salary......

Military .22 calibre

Government to recruit skilled workers.

First qualification is you need a degree in <deleted>.

Second qualification you must understand the envelope procedure.

Third qualification you must be good at brown nosing.

Thank god there are no incompetent workers in the west

Where will these mythical people come from ?  Hiring foreign consultants has worked in China, Singapore and Thailand before.  They may wish to push aside nationalism for a decade in order to achieve their goals.

I can't imagine the newly hired bright sparks will be happy working for the existing lot of entrenched, un-incentivized, poorly compensated incompetents who purchased their jobs for various undisclosed sums of money.

But this, and the leadership/management training, presuming it's worth a <deleted>, is a good idea.  Have to start somewhere.

And to get them to keep their grubby little mitts off underage girls being offered to them on their travels.

A few days short of the third anniversary of him taking power and he has finally realised that the govt should have competent people in it.

Soldiers

What a novel idea! Employing people who can actually do the job? It will never catch on.

What will they do with all the people currently employed ?

Will the PM resign and be replaced by someone skilled ? I hope so.

so if they plan to stay in power ad infinitum

they will need people capable of doing the jobs

the alternative is an election

Aaah, knowledge and skills, that must have been the reason behind the sputtering start of the police reforming the police which started 3 years ago and has since been forgotten...

knowledge and skills are all good, but that's stuff you can learn... What about dedication, pride in your work, a sense of honor, doing the right thing? These are values that need to be instilled especially into future civil servants and public office holders

you can judge easily by the results obtained

so that's this lot redundant then lol , i went for a job once , i knew more than  the interviewer, no, never got it, he was safe guarding his own job . would be the case with this sorry lot, the more medals ya got , better the job, most the people i speak to in this country seem to be graduates of one thing or another, i think you get to be a graduate just for showing up , mustn't lose face and all that crap

Is that an admission that substandard individuals are running the country?

I'm confused!

But what do I know? I'm a foreigner!

This just means more govt jobs (starter jobs, foot in the door jobs) for the sons and daughters of generals.

I'm sure that the sons and daughters of top brass of working age, would already be gainfully employed....take his brothers son for example.....

if he really means what he says, what is he going to do with all the people that will now be unemployed as their skills are almost non-existent.
