Multi entry B visa and end of employment

Featured Replies

Please can anyone help us?

My wife and I have been working legally for a school in Thailand for the last 14 months, but our employment has been ended today, 18 May 2017.

We both have multi-entry Non B visas. Mine runs out on 29 August 2017 and my wife's expires on 31 January 2018.

We are not seeking further employment in Thailand and leave for the UK on 25 July 2017.

Are we allowed to stay here until July 2017?

Many thanks

David and Lucy Edwards

If you have a multiple entry non-b visa issued by an embassy or consulate it will remain valid until it expires.

If on a one year extension of stay issued by immigration it ends on the date your job ends.

There is no problem staying for the remainder of your current 90 day permit to stay.

If you need to do another border hop before leaving and are questioned on re-entry using the visa it's best to say you're between jobs rather than entering for tourism.

We got our non b from Singapore. But only for three months. Immigration then gave us our current multi entry non b visas with expiry dates I mentioned before. They are both multi entry b visas.

two posts but conflicting answers!! Sorry but confused!!

You don't have a multiple entry non-b visa. You have a one year extension of stay based upon working and a multiple re-entry permit.

Technically your extensions ended today.

You should ask your employer for a letter stating a date next week so you can cancel your extensions a few days before that date and they will postdate the cancellation to get more time to leave the country.  You could then go out and back for a visa exempt entry if you qualify for one or get single entry tourist visas..

Both answers were correct based on you claiming to have "multi entry b visas", which it appears you don't.

You need to leave the country as your permission to stay is dependent on your work. There is no extension you can get to extend your current stay. You can ask immigration for 7 days to leave the country which costs 1,900 baht.

You can exit and immediately re-enter at many land crossings and will receive a 30 day visa exempt entry. That entry can be extended by 30 days for 1,900 baht.

If that 60 days leaves you short of your July exit you could get a tourist visa from an embassy/consulate in a neighbouring country instead. You'll be given 60 days on entry that can be extended by 30 days.
