Republican Shadow Campaign for 2020 Takes Shape as Trump Doubts Grow

President Trump’s first term is ostensibly just warming up, but luminaries in his own party have begun what amounts to a shadow campaign for 2020 — as if the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue weren’t involved."

"The would-be candidates are cultivating some of the party’s most prominent donors, courting conservative interest groups and carefully enhancing their profiles."

"But the sheer disarray surrounding this presidency— the intensifying investigation by the special counsel Robert S. Mueller III and the plain uncertainty about what Mr. Trump will do in the next week, let alone in the next election—have prompted Republican officeholders to take political steps unheard-of so soon into a new administration."

Some of you really think he is going to complete 4 years, are you on drugs.? His ass is (TOASTED)

Yes, but only if the people capable of throwing him out of office decide to throw him out of office.

It may be better for them if they can keep Trump boxed in, pinned to the floor, so to speak, constantly placing more pressure on him but never delivering the final blow.

The Democrats may see this as advantageous for the 2018 Mid-Term elections. A Trump president is good for the Democrat vote.

The Republicans may not want him to deliberately blow up the GOP in spite. (Trump has a lot of previous when it comes to spiteful revenge) But by leaving him in the White House with a little power, a little prestige and hope that he can shape things, then Trump is unlikely to split the GOP vote. That is the thinking.

Seems like American products are in demand.  Great!  I'm sure a few Americans would love to live over here and help manage the plants.

But what's this got to do with the OP? LOL

People seem willing to look the other way on lots of trump stuff ups, all the time thinking jobs are being created, the end justifies the means.  Don't impeach him, he is creating jobs.

Great if it was true, and maybe forgive some trump indiscretions. Reality is, two of the very icons of American manufacturing are opening factories in other countries.

Quick, sack someone so that nobody notices.

LOL.  My head spins trying to understand what Trump is doing....does... effects...hurts...etc. LOL  He did introduce some legislation to cut red tape, but that was easy.  An executive order.  For anything complicated, not a thing.  Which is what many of us predicted.  Just because you are a "successful" business person doesn't mean you'll make a successful politician.  LOL!

They have decided to get rid of him it's just a matter of timing. Incumbent GOP'ers  need a lot of evidence so that Trump supporters don't backlash them. If they could do it now without repercussions they would because surely they wouldn't want to be wasting having the presidency and both houses.

If they do get rid of him, he will demand a billion dollars, a generous lifetime pension for all his family members, a comprehensive pardon for everything he or his family or entourage has ever done or may do and a massive farewell party replete with 500,000 cheering Trumpeteers and a gold staircase. He will probably get it in the bizarre inverse meritocracy the U.S. has become.

One of the inept one's "best people" and buddy of Steve Bannon's, gets the boot from McMaster:

An NSC Staffer Is Forced Out Over a Controversial Memo

"In Maoist insurgencies, the formation of a counter-state is essential to seizing state power,” the memo reads.

“Functioning as a hostile complete state acting within an existing state, it has an alternate infrastructure, political warfare operates as one of the activities of the ‘counter-state."

“Because the left is aligned with Islamist organizations at local, national, and international levels, recognition should be given to the fact that they seamlessly interoperate through coordinated synchronized interactive narratives …"

To anyone still not convinced, I urge you to read the transcripts of the Trump/Penña-Nietzsche and Trump/Turnbull conversations.

Yep, USA is sure turning itself into a laughing stock.

Treasonous leakers and a vile press, trying to bring down an elected President.

That a world leader cannot have a telephone conversation with the President of the USA, without expecting the details to be published in the WP.  Ridiculous and Pathetic!

McMaster, On ‘Warpath,’ Purges Key Trump Allies From White House NSC

"The Trump staffers fired by McMaster had repeatedly clashed with career government staffers and holdovers from the Obama administration on issues as diverse as military strategies for Syria and Afghanistan, whether to tear up Obama's landmark Iran deal, the controversial détente with Cuba, the U.S. role in confronting Islamic radicalism, and the Paris Climate Accord, according to these sources."

"The latest victim of this purge is Ezra Cohen-Watnick, a senior NSC official originally hired by ousted National Security Adviser Michael Flynn."

"A third senior official, then-NSC senior Middle East director Derek Harvey, was removed from his post roughly a week ago."

Laughing stock for sure.  Treasonous leakers?  Perhaps heroes?  Hardly a vile press for reporting the nefarious doings of Trump gang.

A free and fair press is a great thing.  Unless you are a Trump supporter! LOL

On her new State Sponsered Propaganda Show, Laura Trump trumpeted the inept ones' donation of his salary.  While omiting the fine print:

Trump Donates Second-Quarter Salary to Department of Education

"Trump, who donated his first-quarter salary to the National Park Service,

has proposed slashing the Education Department budget by $9.2 billion in 2018."

http://www.newsmax.com/US/trump-donates-salary-education/2017/07/26/id/803993/

Donald Trump Gave a $78,000 Novelty Check to the Park Service, Whose Budget He Wants to Gut

"The White House served up bad news for the Park Service in March when it put forth its proposed budget, which would slash the Interior Department’s budget by 12 percent—nearly $2 billion. That cut would likely be felt heavily by NPS."

Nice way not to address that fact that his conversation with the Mexican President shows that Trump doesn't care at all about making Mexico pay for the wall.

So they seriously believe that atheist lefty advocates of gay, women and other minority rights are aligned with misogynistic, gay-bashing religious fanatics? To what end??

This loon had a job at THE WH for six months?? Jesus in a bathrobe at Buckingham palace in bed with The queen is a more believable scenario.

I'm 100% not OK with them being leaked.  I'm also 100% not ok with a president who lies and is involved in soooooo many investigations, I can't even count them.  Something needs to be done.  And if this is one way, then so be it.  I seem to remember some using that same argument for the docs Snowden leaked.

Maybe if Trump acted presidential, these leaks would stop.  Until then, keep up the resistance.

The reason this was newsworthy is because Trump said one thing in public, while perfectly aware that what he promised was never going to happen, conceding the same to the Mexican president and trying to enlist his help to continue to dupe his supporters.

It's people who supported him that aught to be outraged for being treated like simple-minded mugs. The rest of us already had Trump's number.

The Mexican president actually comes out of this with his stature enhanced because it shows that what he says publicly is the same as what he says privately. If Trump had displayed the same integrity, there would've been no market for this leaked info. And we wouldn't be talking about it. It probably wouldn't even have been published, except by Breitbart to show what a stand up guy Trump is. I doubt the WH would've been complaining about leaks in that case.

What is clear, is that you are on the wrong thread.

Are you aware that there is another thread entirely devoted to your concerns?

But you seem very ok that it is Ok for the POTUS to lie through his teeth every time he opens his mouth, to the people that pay for him to be in such a powerful position. You seem ok that he is conning not only his people but the world and you seem ok that bit by bit he is about to be involved in federal and criminal investigations, not only going back to the Russia issue but spreading back 20-30 years. Now what was it you said in your words?

The fact that leaks occur is bad, BUT it is the truth that is coming out. As Trump said over Clinton "if she has nothing to hide then why worry about an investigation".

Trump is completely off reality when he says "why won't the press report on leaks, why not report on Clinton, why only on me and Russia - it's a witch hunt". These the very press who he has called liars, the enemy of America, fake news outlets, he has had his rally crowds intimidate, jeer, spit at. Then he expects the press to help him out. I hope it is the mission of every bit of the MSM to NEVER report anything positive about the monster and make sure it is the mother of ALL witch hunts and bury the evil bar steward, It is nothing less than he deserves. You reap what you sow!
