History tends to repeat in cycles. The first great depression was preceeded by years of corporate consolidation and stock market boom which was based on false speculation and corporate manipulation which lead to the eventual crash.

The old middle class was created with job creation by FDR, the buck stops here Truman and yes Eisenhower along with strong unions able to negotiate good contracts. They all had high taxes on the extremely wealthy, I am not sure but I seem to recall Ike made the highest taxes of something like 90%.

Republicans with their tax breaks for the elite create recessions and democrats have traditionally cleaned them up, however, there are few democrats left, the party has become republican light.

Just like in the 1920's the stock market has enjoyed years of growth based on fake statistics making Banksters and CEO's even wealthier. (as well as the congress critters they own). The wall is ready to collapse again.

Yes, I agree, everyone that earns more than me should be taxed at 90% and that money should be split up between we poor people.

Unpresidented an opposing administration would be wiretapping a contestants campaign. Really incredible. Who listed to these tapes?  DNC party hacks? Hilary staffers?

we already know Comey lied to congress when he said he had "no idea" what Trump was talking about when he alerted everyone he was being wiretapped. This is Thai-politic like crap and people are going to jail.

Are you saying that Trump's secret identity is Paul Manafort? Or rather that Paul Manafort's secret identity is Donald Trump?

Small donors are not paying Trump’s legal bills. It’s worse.

"Trump, who has claimed to have a net worth of $10 billion dollars, used RNC funds to pay his personal lawyer John Dowd $100,000 and an additional $131,250 to pay Jay Sekulow, another attorney representing Trump who frequently appears on TV."

"On top of those payments, the RNC also paid nearly $200,000 for Trump Jr.’s lawyers."

"Other recent donors include the Robert and Rebekah Mercers, the patrons of Steve Bannon, and advocates for some of Trump’s most radical policies."

And who pays for the WH staff legal bills?

" Trump and his aides have complained bitterly and often about leaks, including leaks from the White House. But who needs leaks when lunch reservations will suffice?"

Unprecedented  (note sp) an opposing 'contestants campaign' would collude with agents of the adversarial Russian Government to bring down their opposing Presidential candidate,  requiring the nations most secretive intelligence organisations and law enforcement agencies to request the right to surveillance. Really Incredible.

Your support of traitors who have attempted to run amok with a nations democracy in order to feather their own nest is utterly pitiful at best. Luckily they have been caught and every single one of them is going to get what they are due and all those who have enabled, empowered, supported and defended them will hang their heads in shame when the true extent of this treachery is revealed. You keep defending the Trump, it is a crappy job but someone has to do it eh!

It looks like the Manafort connection is likely to bring down Trump. Does anyone remember how Manafort came to be working for the Trump campaign? And the circumstances of his departure from the campaign?

Manafort was hired in March, 2016 with the assignment to corral convention delegates to nail down the nomination for Trump.  Lewandovski, who was the campaign manager at the time, got pushed out and Manafort took his place.  Eventually, Manafort was himself pushed out because of declining poll numbers and news articles that Trump didn't like.  Thereafter, as the dirt began to come out about Manafort's connections to Russian oligarchs and Ukrainian dictators, Trump distanced himself by claiming that Manafort had worked on the campaign only briefly and that they never communicated after he left the campaign.  Now the record of phone conversations between Trump and Manafort, some of which may have been recorded, prove that they remained in contact throughout the transition and after T took office.  Just another Trump lie.  It certainly looks like Trump was going out of his way to staff the upper levels with people who had connections to the Russians.

Manafort is apparently worth tens of millions of dollars.  It is inconceivable that such a person will keep his mouth shut and fall on his sword for the Donald.  Mueller will be giving him maximum heat to flip him.  And flip he will.

Senate Cancels Meeting With Trump Lawyer Michael Cohen

"WASHINGTON — Senate investigators probing Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election canceled an interview on Tuesday with longtime Trump lawyer Michael Cohen because they believe Cohen broke an agreement by speaking with the media."

"The Senate Intelligence Committee will now subpoena Cohen, a source with direct knowledge of the matter told NBC News."

"The committee intended to pursue several lines of questioning with Cohen, according to congressional sources, with the goal of putting him on the record on key topics that have drawn scrutiny during the investigation, including potential direct contacts between Trump associates and people with close ties to the Kremlin."

Put him under oath.

Either way, Federal statute makes any misleading or false testimony to Congress subject to criminal penalty.

Raids, warrants, and wiretaps: The Trump-Russia probe 'has reached a critical stage'

Legal experts said the warrant meant Mueller had been able to convince a federal judge that there was good reason to believe a foreign entity had committed a crime by making campaign contributions in the form of ads and the spread of fake news, and that evidence of that crime would be found on Facebook."

"Mueller has also issued subpoenas to Manafort's spokesman Jason Maloni and former attorney Melissa Laurenza to testify before a federal grand jury."

"The developments indicate that Mueller's probe "is nearing the litigation stage," said Brookings Institution fellows and legal experts Benjamin Wittes and Susan Hennessey."

Cohen is a long-time Trump protege, indeed he is said to have been treated like a son by DT.  And it appears he learned his lessons from the master.  Cohen and the Senate Intelligence Committee had previously agreed that he would testify privately, not under oath, and would not make a public statement beforehand.  Naturally, in true Trump style, he flagrantly violated his own agreement when he thought he could steal an advantage by putting his view in front of the public first.  Like Trump he vastly overestimates his own intelligence.  So, now the Senate committee is pissed off and will treat him still more aggressively.  Not smart.

Try and understand this:  Trump was not wiretapped.  That is what Comey told Congress.  Manafort was no longer on the Trump campaign when the wiretap was authorized as part of the Russia investigation.  The tapes were listened to by authorized people according to the law.

None of this would be an issue if Trump didn't include shady characters with links to Russian intelligence and mobsters in his campaign.

Your wild speculation about possible illegal activities shows you have nothing.

Exclusive: Mueller team's focus on Manafort spans 11 years

"Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team is reaching back more than a decade in its investigation of Paul Manafort, a sign of the pressure Mueller is placing on President Donald Trump's former campaign chairman."

"The FBI's warrant for a July search of Manafort's Alexandria, Virginia, home said the investigation centered on possible crimes committed as far back as January 2006, according to a source briefed on the investigation."

"Manafort, who has been the subject of an FBI investigation for three years, has emerged as a focal point for Mueller."

The pressure is on.  Manafort will flip.

Up next, Michael Flynn...

Comey, Clapper and Rogers lied to congress.  Guess who is going to jail now!  Fun!

March 20, 2017

At the House Intelligence Committee hearing, Comey and NSA Director Mike Rogers both deny that there was any information supporting Trump’s allegations in his original tweet.

"With respect to the president's tweets about alleged wiretapping directed at him by the prior administration, I have no information that supports those tweets and we have looked carefully inside the FBI," Comey said. "The Department of Justice has asked me to share with you that the answer is the same for the Department of Justice and all its components. The department has no information that supports those tweets."

This is truly bizarre. In the past you have repeatedly posted links to articles with headlines that promise what they don't deliver. Now we have a headline that says Trumps charges are false you you cite that as evidence to support your contentions.

A timeline of Donald Trump’s false wiretapping charge

President Donald Trump has stuck to a false claim that former President Barack Obama wiretapped him. Here’s a timeline of Trump’s statement, the White House’s evolving responses and the evidence against it.

Are you reading between the lines? Is there some sort of code embedded in these texts that most people can't see? Do we need special glasses or a decoder ring?

It is possible that the intelligence community did target Trump and that they sought to tap his phone calls by getting a warrant on someone he talks to frequently, such as Manafort.  That is a known technique of the CIA in getting around the restriction on targetting Americans.

I would certainly not believe anything Clapper had to say, since he perjured himself before Congress when he denied surveiling Americans before Snowden exposed the NSA's massive domestic surveillance programs.

While I loathe Trump, I certainly have no faith whatsoever in the security state.

Naa, it'll be primarily, obstruction of justice,

fraud and money-laundering that will cause this cancer in the White House to resign in disgrace.

The rest of his brethren won't get off so easy...

Right. Trump resigning. Sure.

Resign or not, he is finished.  The concept of due process - which Trump supporters only like when it suits them - and the Republican held congress are the only things standing in the way to this rogue's impeachment and the indictments of those who are part of the Trump crime syndicate.
