Quality Tourists Do Exactly that and no longer lower their standards by visiting here

I did go home and will never return.  I'm just "calling back" to let you know that the shithole I left, after 3 years, isn't what it's advertised to be.  I would NEVER bring children there and would never attempt to retire there in the LOS (land of the LIARS OF SIAM).  What a crooked, corrupt society.  I do enjoy women for rent but Thailand isn't special in that arena and the women CANNOT be trusted!

The only way to end the image of sex tourism is to end sex tourism.  They only way to do that would be a massive crackdown in Pattaya, Phuket and parts of Bangkok.

So, how would they do the crackdown?

Shutting down the bars would just drive the girls (and boys) out into the streets.  Mass arrests of the girls who provide the services would be ineffective if it just resulted in a lecture and a 500฿ fine.  Sending the girls off to re-education camps wouldn't go down too well, so there seems to be no good way to cut off the supply.

Demand, however, could to reduced to a trickle, by arresting a couple of thousand foreign sex tourists!  This action, however would have a very negative effect on the tourist numbers and income!

Why just focus on Pattaya, Phuket and parts of Bangkok?

There is a large but out of sight sex industry down south catering to Malaysians coming over the border for fun and games.

Anyway, if they shut down every farang bar in LOS, the girls would just go work in the Thai industry which would expand to accommodate farangs. I'm sure plenty of farangs go to the big Bkk and Pattaya soapies which are primarily for Thais.

Also, can't just arrest a farang for being with a Thai girl, and even in the west, "escorts" are big business.

I think Laos banned farangs going with Lao girls a few years ago, but I don't know how that would go down in a non communist country.

Lastly, probably more mongers get in touch over the internet than go to bars now. What they gonna do about that?

Stubuzz you are right but it's not a blow to the economy stopping it is more a major blow to their families these girls "working" for.
