webfact Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Flood measures announced at Don Mueang airport "will have no effect on flights or passengers" Picture: Voice TV A Don Mueang airport representative said that flood prevention measures announced for the northern Bangkok hub will not affect flights or passengers, reported Voice TV. Nitinai Sirisamatkarn said that several measures were being taken to ensure that there is no flooding in the area of the airport as the rainy season in Thailand bites. Most of the measures center around the checking of 12 airport and two air force pumping stations. Officials want to make sure they can pump according to stated capacity. The measures are being taken to prevent flooding both on the operational side of the airport (the airside) and on Vipawadee Rangsit road out front. Cooperation is also taking place with the state railways regarding the provision of a 900 meter long pipe system put in place in connection with the building of the Red Line rail system. In 2011 much of the airport was submerged in disastrous flooding that caused billions of baht in damage. Source: Voice TV -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2017-06-01
