Cambodia requests urine drug testing specialists from Thailand

Trat Governor Boonchuay Kerdsukhon (บุญช่วย เกิดสุคนธ์) revealed that Cambodia’s Koh Kong (เกาะกง) province had sent a letter requesting urine drug testing specialists from the Trat province.

The governor said the province had passed the request to the Narcotics Control Board Region 2 which will dispatch the specialists to Koh Kong soon. Nowadays, a lot of teenagers in Koh Kong have been addicted to drugs.

Trat and Koh Kong have cooperated in tackling drug problems in terms of drug testing and rehabilitation programs for the drug addicted. The Koh Kong used to send those suspected to use drugs to the Ban Had Lek (บ้านหาดเล็ก) Health Station in Trat to undergo drug testing.

ONCB region 2 and Trat province hand over 400 drug test kits for Cambodian authorities

The Region 2 Office of the Narcotics Control Board has distributed 400 drug test kits to Cambodian authorities.

Trat governor Wichai Prapanrote (วิชัย ประพันธ์โรจน์ ) and Region 2 Office of the Narcotics Control Board director Pongsak Puthong (พงษ์ศักดิ์ พุฒทอง ) formally distributed 400 drug test kits to Cambodian provincial governor Yuth Puthong (ยุทธ ภูทอง). The Trat governor said that the urine test kits would be used by Cambodian officers in Khoa Kong (เกาะกง) province to test for narcotic offenders in order to improve drug control in the Cambodian province.

ONCB director Pongsak said that the test kits were only the first of cooperative efforts between Thai and Cambodian authorities in solving local narcotic issues.

Mr. Pongsak said that officials would meet at least twice a year at the provincial level in order to discuss drug issues, while Trat governor Wichai said that the cooperation between Thailand and Cambodia has greatly alleviated narcotic operations in thea area.
