A video clip in which a schoolboy apparently fitted two other boys with dental braces in exchange for payment that is circulating on social media has drawn criticism.

Facebook user “NudRa Surakotra” said the children’s parents should take action, as they would obviously be aware of the issue after their children suddenly were sporting braces.

She also urged television stations and prominent Facebook pages to provide accurate information about the dangers of untrained people operating as orthodontists.

“Ae Atcharaporn” urged authorities to call the children’s parents as the activity depicted in the clip looked dangerous, while user “Ai Airada TG” warned that the boy was using dental equipment without cleaning it properly before working on another child, which could cause infections.

“Issariyaporn Jaiboon” said children these days could buy any equipment they wanted on the Internet while calling on authorities to punish the distributors. The user added that the children were taking risks without realising the consequences because dental braces had become a popular teen fad.

The clip was shared on the popular page “Mor Lab Panda” (https://www.facebook.com/MTlikesara/) in an effort to urge officials to investigate.

The clip, which was viewed 345,000 times, received 16,000 likes and was further shared by 2,253 people.

Where his patients happy with their new braces?

Kurt

Braces, in Thailand at least, are mostly a kind of fashion statement, a sort of financial showoff, mostly not needed at all.

Like spectacles, the bigger the better.
