By The Nation

PHETCHABURI: -- Fire at a furniture factory in Phetchaburi province early Wednesday caused damage estimated at around Bt6 million, police said.

Pol Captain Sarawut Malai, the deputy inspector of Muang Police Station, said nobody was injured in the fire at the Bang Chan Kha Mai furniture factory in Tambon Bang Chan at 1am.

Ten fire engines took about two hours to control the blaze.

The fire burned down a pile of wooden planks stored for making furniture and also damaged a six-wheel truck and some furniture-making machines.

The owner, Pranthip Suriwanthanalai, 59, said she was woken up by the barking of dogs. When she came out of her home, she saw the fire and quickly called police and the fire station for help.
