PHUKET:-- Phuket Rajabhat University (PRU) is providing viewing sessions of the mandatory training video for people applying for driver’s licences as a way to help reduce the length of time it takes to be issued a licence in Phuket.

People applying for a new licence to drive a car or motorbike must endure a five-hour video session as part of their compulsory road-safety training in order to be issued a licence.

Those applying to renew their existing licence must complete viewing a one-hour “training” video session.

Mai Ben Rai, I watch those videos every day, all day in the field of view from my barstool

Pay B200 for the honor? Think I'll stick with the PLTO. Mind you- university students ...............................!

Now, all they have to do is teach people to actually drive... i.e. follow the 'rules of the road'. Sadly, because it's Thailand it'll never happen.

Does anyone know any Thai who might have the attention span to watch a five hour video? Actually I don't know any foreigners that could sit through that either.

The PLTO really don't have a clue; five hours of compulsory on the road training would be a much better idea, but well done to the university for showing initiative

Yup Thai drivers getting on the road even quicker without any real good driver training.

Same ol, same old, crap, same result, Bad drivers. Yes I will still be watching for these new

drivers on the Thai highways and streets.

They'll all be snoozing, or on Facebook.

Maybe they should subject themselves to watching a five hour video first, before coming to a conclusion.

"Viewing the five-hour video session costs B500. Viewing the one-hour video session costs B200." - Rajabhat Uni raising funds.  Nice earner for them.
