rooster59 Posted June 17, 2017 Share Posted June 17, 2017 Preecha and six NLA colleagues cleared over absence from voting By The Nation The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) on Friday cleared seven of its members accused of being absent from more NLA meetings than allowed, amid the possibility they could have their posts nullified. The decision was made based on the NLA’s work procedure regulation, which was tied to the 2014 interim charter. It said a person’s membership of the NLA would be nullified if a member failed to give his or her votes as required by the regulation. The NLA meeting considered that the seven members, including former Army Chief General Preecha Chan-o-cha, did not breach the regulation. They missed voting because they sometimes had to perform their normal duty as state officials, it said. But no further detail was given, as the meeting was held in secret for one hour today. The NLA also voted in favour of amending its work procedure rule, removing clauses which set out the number of times a member fails to vote that would cause membership to be nullified. NLA vice president Surachai Liengboonlertchai said the new charter had no such requirement. Rather, it specified the number of days that they should not miss NLA meetings, or would lose their posts. That was clear enough, and the matter did not need to be addressed in a regulation any further, Surachai said. The issue was controversial and raised public criticism as Gen Preecha is a brother of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha. To me that's pretty clear. If their own regulations don't list exemptions to the rule, simply because they were too lazy think it through and include them, or because they did not have the capacity of foresight, well then: som nam na. They were even too lazy to amend them afterwards. Officials are always quoting the law, its importance and how everybody should abide by it's letters, but applying rules to their own, well now that's like not getting a discount in the shop you work for, right? So there was never any expectation that they would be attending parliament sessions but every expectation to pocket MP pay. Ordinarily that would be theft of taxpayer funds. May I remind you that our previous PM (also an MP) only attended parliament when she was forced to do so - do you take the same attitude to her? Off course more corruption uncovered only on a particular trajectory. NACC still has a lot of corruption cases that are still "under investigation " and we know which political sides they are. Meaning, ask, and you go to jail. That's right concentrate on the frivolities, don't look at the positive aspects, it will make your sense of superiority stronger. If you look at the national park encroachment, the buddhism scams, the luxury car import scam, the G2G rice scam, the cracking down on police you might realise they would not have happened under the PTP government.
