Seems too much time, effort and drama to apply for a Retirement Visa in Australia.

Is it better to fly in on a 30 day entry and apply at Jomtien for a retirement Visa, how many days are needed to apply?

Or, is it better to arrive on a tourist visa, which would give you more time?

Cheers.

OA visa from Australia will give you up to 2 years if you do a re-entry just before the use by date.

You will need 800k bath in a Thai bank or proof of 65k baht income or a combination of the 2 totaling 800k baht on the date you apply for a 90 day non immigrant visa (category O) entry at Jomtien immigration. You must have 15 days remaining on your entry to apply.

Then during the last 30 days of the 90 day entry you could apply for a extension of stay based upon retirement. If using the money in the bank option it will need to be in the bank for 60 days on the date your apply.

It would be best to get a single entry tourist visa to give your more to get ready for the application.
