As usual - looking through the first few posts - some sad gits on TV- who probably don't live in Thailand and have not got to grips with the truth that Thai family comes first.

 

I believe her- why not- how ever much  you hope the relationship you have with your wife, girlfriend, boyfriend - ladyboy and in between is just fabulous- you don't understand this country.

I was born in 1980s and I got online around 1995.

I was on irc, some forums, etc. Sure there was arguing.. But arguing like this and trolling like this didnt happen much.

And here we have it, it's the worst forum I've seen in terms of trolling, and its the only forum i know that has so many old people.

Thats the theory, that almost all internet trolls are old miserable people. And thats why trolling didnt exist to this extent in 1995-2000 because old people at the time didnt know how to use computers.. Im sure many of you will boast that u had access to internet early, but lets be honest, you didnt know how to access forums or irc etc.

1. young, uneducated, immature white supremacists,

2. rude middle aged, with ego issues

3. sour and lonely elderly,

and in between, a majority of the TV folks who having fun, enjoy Thailand, happy with their willy willy entertainement, enjoy their pool villa's, enjoy reading posts and sometimes maliciously contributing to the heat ups, ...

You probably come from a country where the old and infirm get pensions and age related benefits. Are you not aware that there are no such safety nets in Thailand? Every person lives in fear for their older years. Just look at the beggars lining the streets in every city. I collect $1267 a month in disability at age 60. This is poverty in the US, but a good wage in thailand, and no Thai person regards me as poor by their standards. Based on my considerable research and personal experiences and conversations with many Thai "working girls" ,  the majority do support their families to one extent or another. Very true, as I do stroll a bit around different streets, off road to the solely farang gatherings, in different places in Thailand and have noticed such patterns on which,   perhaps,  you did not pay much attention.

Sorry, but she is 18. And furthermore, as per Thai law, the refered "age of conscent" for sex was 15, raised to 18 currently.

 

Lawmakers plan to raise the age to 20, but there still remains a legal grey zone with some confusion and contradictions between 15, 18 or 20 depending on the type of interaction ( unpaid consented or prostitution).

I am no angel myself, led quite a rock n roll lifestyle in Thailand b4. Who am I kidding ??? I know the state Thailand is in, underage girls round the corner everywhere. I know I can't change anything.  Just a comment here and there at least.

What we should think about is the muslim child marriage and FGM problems which are ignored.

The age for being in the sex industry in Thailand is a joke really as it is all illegal anyway....

I know some of the working girls send money home. But it's been my experience the vast majority send very little or none. They use that as the excuse for the career path they've chosen. Also, the poor family back home story is helpful when it's time for the tip. Imagine this. "Tilac why do you work in the bar? It's because I'm lazy and I like expensive things" Not likely to get that honest response when she's hoping for a fat tip.

Most of that money is either spent buying trivial things or supporting the boyfriend and whatever habits he may have. I've even seen cases where the mother has a nasty gambling habit.

I'm not faulting the girls really. I'm just pointing out the realities.

The help the family thing becomes especially valuable when you get the farang that wants to "save" them from the bar and send them a monthly stipend. There's numerous reasons for telling that sob story.
