Hi,

my girlfriend and I are planning to get married in the Bang Pakong district office in Chachoengsao. I read from the Finnish embassy's site that you should choose bigger district offices in Bangkok or other big cities where they are used to marrying more thai woman-farang couples. Do you guys see this as an issue as we'd really like toget it done in Bang Pakong instead of Bang Rak etc?

Also, do you get the marriage certificate with you immediately?

Thanks.

If they agree to marry you, you will get the certificate immediately.

You may need an interpreter if no one there speaks English.

Be aware the more consulates are now requiring you have an Embassy and MFA Certified and translated copy of your passport, in addition to the usual Affirmation to Marry.  Bang Rak requires this extra (redundant) step, as do many others, now.

You may also need two witnesses - and they will need to be Thai, at many amphoes (since our passports are evidently not valid ID at many amphoe-offices, any more).

Thanks for the reply.

For future reference, Bang Pakong district office will not marry Thai and farang, they dont have the officer to do it. They instructed us to go to Pattaya Bang Lamung.
