Beware - Lazada - Farang Pricing.....

Recommended Posts

I've always thought Lazada expensive when compared to in store items....Found it to be higher but used it for convenience sake....

Last night my wife wanted to buy some magnetic door screens that she could double up & use on a Thai style window/door on the side of the house to allow wind flow.....

For some reason she couldn't complete the transaction on her phone....I brought up the app on my phone & found the same page & product and handed her my phone....She looked at the price & said "that's expensive"......

I told her to type in her search in Thai & see what happened = same product for 179 baht versus 281 baht when searched in english.....

Same app - same time - same phone - two different pricing schedules.....

We ordered 2 for 358 baht off the Thai pricing - farang pricing would have been 562 baht.....

Thought it interesting enough to share.....Screen shots attached....

You of course noticed that the two items you compared are sold by two different vendors ?

You of course have noticed that almost always there are different prices for the same item depending on the vendor ?

You of course know that "farang" does not mean English writing foreigner ?

Point taken & point made....

First shown match on each search....

don't forget that in 99% of the cases, lazada only offers a platform for vendors to sell goods. It is very rare and getting even rarer that lazada is the actual vendor since it is not owned by German company ROCKET INTERNET any longer

Nope - not close....

Forewarned is forearmed.....

My wife searched several pages & some prior searches & was surprised at the differences; but I only mentioned on what we actually purchased/affected us....

Thought it was helpful info to pass along....

Yes beware !

Today I ordered an item from this company - providing my Visa card details . About one hour later an email arrived stating my purchase "could not be processed"

I quickly checked with my bank and discovered my card was valid, not blocked and usable.  A telephone conversation revealed that Lazda say they have a problem with/do not accept international card payments ( the Lazda employee could not make up her mind as to which it was)

I will never attempt to do business with this company again

i use lazada frequently.

when looking for any item i perform a search add every item matching my needs to my cart,   then systematically delete all but the cheapest and order that.

prices for the exact same item can vary up to 300 percent depending on the vendor. they can often vary by listing even from the same vendor.

Cash on delivery is the only way !!

I cannot guarantee to be at home when the delivery is made and my wife is nervous about making doorstep cash transactions when alone in the house.

If COD works for you then OK but it does not  suit everyone.

Transaction in your name needs your face to collect from my experience with Lazada.

if you cannot be there to collect look to other sites like aliexpress or banggood, cheaper than Lazada a lot of the time too. just longer delivery times.

I have use Lazada for over 8 years here and have never had any problem except one time and it was the seller not Lazada. Once I got a product that did not even match the item displayed. Lazada had me keep the item I received and even gave me a credit for twice than the purchase price. Reordered from a different vendor through them and all was well.  I have also used most of their pay options with no issues ever.

Lazada posts prices given to them from different sellers and they only advertise what is given. You need to shop around just like you do in a store. If your have an issue with the seller complain to Lazada and they will take care of it. Better service than most others. If you don't know how to shop on online you shouldn't be shopping on the internet anyway in my opinion. There are risks no matter where you buy. You stand to have more issues dealing with street vendors or walking into a store than you will with Lazada.

some stuff is fake of course, same headphones for example just cannot be 6k and 999 baht. I'm surprised how much advertised has no warranty. My wife and I both ordered phones this week total saved on shop price 2.5k, so it can be worth it. Their search engine is not very good though.

This just means that the search term you are using in Thai better matches the description entered by the cheapest vendor. The item is not going to show up under any english term search if the description is entirely written in Thai - because it doesn't match the search term.

It's a technical limitation, not 'dual pricing'.

EDIT - I do think it's a helpful post though, good to get someone to search in Thai as well to ensure you can compare across all vendors.

I guess that you are from USA, but it can happen also from some EU countries.

If you are from USA you can cancel the purchase and get refunded with just a phone call, but lazada is too smart to play the game.

In Thailand chargebacks are a lot more difficult and you must show REAL evidences unlike in USA.

If I could I would also refuse all foreign cards.

yes it doesn't suit people who like to come later on the forum after having received their order (or not), whining about how bad is lazada...

I am not from the US but have not lost any cash and I have placed a 'block' on Lazda at the bank..

My bank will also (at my request) refer any online attempts, from any source,  to remove money from my account to me for approval before settlement is  made.

A new card has been ordered but I will retain this one for emergency use whilst awaiting the new card.

What is your problem with foreign cards?

Tech limitation, not blattant "farang pricing". I bought several times from Lazada and never saw such thing happen - a lot of items are sold by different vendors at different prices.

You were robbed! Only 169B a piece! 338B for 2!

Notice my menu is in English, I am searching in English, but the website really isn't any good at the two language thing.robbed.jpeg.e334226f4eb90a6a6632094352b510bc.jpeg

Maybe we can close this thread now before we get 50 pages of nonsense.

OP was wrong , Lazada is not cheating us , life is good.
