Having a "boner" all day would be extremely dangerous. Normally it requires a visit to the ED to have the blood syringed out.

ok so I exaggerated....maybe a "semi" every time you clap eyes on a bird

After reading with interest about the efficacy of some of the potential solutions, I went with Folk Guitars suggestion to try Grakcu. I presented myself to the assistant at a huge PharmaChoice and said "Grakcu please" she looked at me and said, "Cialis, Viagra?". I repeated my request for Grakcu, "Ah, sorry...don't have". "OK, do you have anything similar?" Which was how I ended up with 2 boxes of "Plays" at 580 baht for 2 capsules BUT buy one box, get one free.

Has anyone heard of these "Plays" or used them? I'll report back on their effectiveness (or not) in a little while.

Regards,

Joe

Looking back at the post maybe because you gave the name as  Grakcu instead of Gracku led to confusion?

Close enough, i know, but TIT.

Why buy all these high price products when you can but the Thai version of Viagra for 100-150 pkg of 4?

Your choice of course.

Thanks for your unwanted advice...1) GraKCU is a herbal product which would suit me better... 2) Viagra and / or Cialis have some unpleasant side-effects for me and finally 3) Here's a picture of the GraKCU tablets - please note the spelling

Regards,

Joe

NB: If you do want to be helpful - exactly  where can one buy the Thai version of Viagra for 100-150 pkg of 4 and what is the product called?

Thanks,

Joe

Grackcu can be easily found.  Peera Pharmacy, just inside Thapae Gate carries it. PharmaChoices 'usually' carry it. And for certain, the huge pharmacy just beside the Chinese Gate leading into Warrarote Market (left side of Chiang Moi Rd, on the corner) buys it buy the box-load. I saw them unboxing a case of 24 boxes the other week when I was in there for anti-histamines.

Chinese herbal called "Gracku." Sold in most of the larger pharmacies such as PharmaChoice, and many of the smaller ones too.  About 350 baht for 6 capsules. Taken on an empty stomach, they are effective for 24-36 hours. VERY effective. Almost comically so.  Little Willie thinks he's 16 again, and jumps up at the sight of anything with curves.   The enclosed directions say to take 1-2 capsules daily. Frankly, I'd be afraid to take more than one every two days!  Very potent stuff (no pun intended.)

I would hesitate to use Chinese herbal remedies unless I was absolutely sure of all their potential side effects. The reason I say that is that a few years back when Chinese medicine first started to be accepted in the west, researchers were astonished to find that a Chinese herbal concoction that had been prescribed in China for 100s of years was almost 100% effective at treating intractable eczema and they were hugely enthusiastic about finding what active compounds were in it and attempting to synthesize them or at least standardize their extraction reliably to make the treatment more precise (and of course to make loads of money out of it). They kicked off their research with standardized, double blind, human trials on the original herbal concoction and, although they found it was incredibly effective, they also found that it did significant damage to the liver and was thus health, and eventually life-threatening, if used over a long period as it would need to be for therapeutic benefit (it wasn't a cure for eczema, it was a palliative measure).

Are there any side effects for those with weaker hearts?

Almost any/every medication, be it herbal or synthetic, if used in excess will lead to complications, even 'Tylenol.'   I'm not a doctor, so can NOT state with accuracy what sort of problems you might encounter. It's obvious that something in this Chinese herbal increases blood flow. I have no idea if this is because of dilation of the blood vessels or increased blood pressure. Personally, It's NOT something that I would take every day regardless.

Were I in the shoes of someone with a weak heart, I suppose I'd ask a doctor if it was safe for me to take something like Viagra. If he said yes, then I might be willing to try the Chinese herbals.

Viagra is usually sold in 50 or 100 mg tablets.  These are 20 mg.  These are expensive if you need to take five to get the required dosage.

We are not talking about everyday, just those days that we need to take to get the effect like once a month.

Doctors won't know anything about these Chinese medicine because they are only educated in western medicine like Viagra,

Yes, doctor's won't know anything about side-effects of Chinese medicine, or purity, dosage, or even if the package contains what it claims.  Neither will consumers.

That's very true. It is why I did NOT suggest asking a doctor about the Chinese herbals.

There is a risk with everything in life. You have the choice to take the risk or not. No one twists your arm. People die every day taking pharmaceuticals too, not just herbals. To date, since the year 2000, 1,931,713 people have died from adverse drug reactions.  (http://pharmadeathclock.com/)

Rainbow Warrior was not safe in Auckland Harbour - the French sank it!

Seawise University (ex RMS Queen Elizabeth) was safe in Hong Kong Harbour but caught fire and sank etc etc

How droll...

Perhaps I should have said 99.9% of ships are safe in the harbor.  Or was it 99.8%?

Haven't you got anything better to do?

While a western trained doctor may have never heard of Gracku, or other herbal mixes, they can certainly advise you ... based on your age, weight, health, and your current regularly used medications ... about experimentation with these formulations.

If your current medications are in the group which are highly reactive to a wide range of other meds or chemicals, such as warfarin for blood thinning, omperazole for acid reflux, statins like lipitor, a variety of common meds that affect the liver, etc., you may be playing Russian roulette.

Of course, I am not trying to discourage anyone from occasional use of whatever, and  I would distinguish use of aphrodisiacs to "firm-up" from use in cases of clinical ED: if you have clinical ED, I think your nuts not to be concerned with your mind-body health as a whole, and get that evaluated.

Of course,  how you self-appraise your psyche and soma: what works, or does not work, or does not work like it used to ... comes into play. This aging male meat-and-bone-bag thinks the diminution of sex drive is a wonderful bonus of getting older, more than compensated for by the richness of meaning possible when sex occurs in the context of intimacy, and caring.

Just a cautionary note.

A friend of mine was recently waxing lyrical about Gracku and said it worked really well and even gave me some to try, which I did, and like another poster has said the effect was quite startling – – in fact the old fella started to come to life without much encouragement.

I thought I was onto something here, until a few hours later I started to get some strange vision effects, sort of a blueish, blurry outline on things I was looking at, and it became quite annoying and worrying. Then I remembered having exactly the same reaction from some Viagra that I was given many years ago, this by a young doctor friend who swore that it was the best thing that had ever been invented, however I couldn't cope with it.

What I'm hinting at here is that I am as sure as I can be that this natural herbal remedy actually contains sildenafil or something similar to give this effect, and this would not be just a shot in the dark because many Chinese herbal "medicines" have been shown to contain modern drugs which can be manufactured very cheaply in China.

And these can be very dangerous because you don't know the dose and don't know exactly what it is. As I said I am as sure as I can be that this particular capsule contains a modern ED drug – – so be careful.

With the same unwanted and potentially dangerous side effects??

I would bet good money on my previous post..............this as many Chinese supposedly herbal cures have been found to contain modern/synthetic drugs.

Then again nothing stopping anyone from taking what they want, AND of course some folks are more sensitive (me for example) to these types of drugs than others, so the side effects may not be a consideration for them?

... or the same desired and just as possibly safe effects.

Some folks only see the glass half empty. I prefer to see it half full.  :)

We all get to choose.

You can ask some of the Chinese tourists about Chinese medicine.  They are easy to find, they're in every pharmacy stocking up on "souvenirs".
