Dolphin rescued after being stranded at Patong beach
By The Nation

PHUKET: -- A spinner dolphin was rescued after it became stranded at Patong Beach early on Thursday morning.

The dolphin, which appeared ill, was spotted at the beach at about 12.15am and volunteers used a cloth to support it in the sea while they waited for authorities.

Officers from the Marine and Coastal Resources Research and Development Institute in Phuket’s Mueang district took the dolphin to be treated in a nurturing pond at the institute.

The dolphin weighed about 20 kilograms and had wounds on its tail and body. Officials believe that the whale got wounds from beaching.

The dolphin was seen swimming near Patong Beach on Wednesday and appeared weak.
