Ford incompetence again!

Featured Replies

My Fiesta was booked in for a 72 month service and the girl presented me with a 700bt work order.  I told her that was incorrect and explained what i wanted, again.  20 minutes later another member of staff came back with a new work order for almost 9000bt showing 6 hours labour.  I explained that Ford has fixed price servicing and this service takes 3.2 hours.  After another 40 minutes of waiting, i went in to speak to the manager who claimed that he was unaware that the timing belt was included in the service price and lowered the work order to the correct price. So, was this a scam or complete incompetence?

You're at a Ford dealer....The questions & answers answer themselves....

Note - even if a service books 3.2 hours it doesn't mean it will be done in 3.2 hours.....It means that is the time allotted to the tech to do the work & can take place early, mid, or later in the day as decided by the dispatcher or team leader depending on the system used.....It might involve a couple of work stations.....

Pray tell your story l like a good old bashing thread.

I gave up on Ford service, waranty and repairs , sold the Ford, paid back the 96k my wife received as a first car buyer and bought a toyota, which i am extremely happy with, best decision i have made in Thailand as far as vehicles is concerned

They still keep contacting us about overdue servicing even though we have told them twice the vehicle has been sold and replaced with another make of more reliable vehicle

Ford service in the US usually a stepping stone shop (unless it's a union shop). I am guessing the same thing is true here....

They hire tech & support people - the best they kind find....After awhile the techs get tired of the headaches problematic vehicles to repair, minimal time allowances for warranty repairs (with no diag allowances = "built in") backed by Ford's tech support staff & TSB's that are not helpful....The service management/staff gets tired of always having customers at the counter because they can't fix them & have no hope/answers....Every day is a fight, and every day they take a beating.....

The good techs & staff go on to better lines, Toyota, Honda, etc. if they can & usually retire out from there happy or make a long career of it.....

This leaves Ford with shops that are always under pressure & in a state of flux.....

There's a pipeline in the trade & good techs/managers are cherry picked by the better brands....In fact, if in an auto mall you will see techs hanging around with their Toyota, Honda pals at T/H dealers trying to get their faces recognizable.....

If you watch the "want ads" sources, Ford stores are always looking....

Imagine this is really accelerated here with a vacuum of quality service personnel....

With Ford the 72 month service relates to the time it takes them to get it right.?
