Police in Surat Thani have made a quick arrest of a man they say viciously murdered a 66 year old woman in her home.

Daily News screamed in their headline that it was "another land deal - another corpse" as details emerged the killer murdered the woman over land and money.

The case was top of the Thai news for only a couple of days after police said that a man in a dress and long wig had been caught on CCTV entering the home of Nantha Janthana or "Jae Ngor" in downtown Surat.

The assailant had bound and strangled the victim in the hall of her home tying her hands and feet together behind her back and wrapping her neck in duct tape.

He even kicked the corpse on his way out.

The victim had installed the CCTV after she had been threatened by a man called Suphap Khonkaset, 48.

He was angry after he claimed that Jae Ngor had swindled his elder sister over a 9 rai land deal many years ago. Attempts to solve the land deal disagreement had broken down.

The victim had every right to be worried - not only had Suphap tried to throw acid at her but he had already served time for murder and fraud in Pangnga before he was released.

Surat police quickly realized who had committed the crime and a warrant was issued leading to the arrest of Suphap in Ban Na Derm district yesterday.

Apichart Bunsirot of the Surat police said they believed that Suphap was the man dressed in a long frizzy wig, dress and mask who had entered the house on Thursday.

He has been charged with premeditated murder and detained.

The massacre in Krabi last week that has made headline news after eight people were killed is also said to have been as a result of a land deal disagreement.

So, he's 48 years old and has already done time for murder and fraud ? how old was he when he went in for the 1st murder ??

They really need to tighten up on their sentencing guidelines over here, murder should really mean life imprisonment.
