BANGKOK: -- Imagine never being disturbed by prank callers, telemarketers, or insurance agents on the phone ever again. It’s a nice thought.

The thought, in fact, sparked an idea for the National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission (NBTC), to create a new mobile application, “Kan Kuan” (Thai for “No disturbance”), which will block all cold-calling numbers reported by citizens. Despite the helpful concept, sadly, the app, which was launched this week, doesn’t work.

According to Manager, the predicted number of downloads was 40,000 for the first month of the application’s launch. Though Kan Kuan was meant to be a big hit, that wasn’t the case.

How does it work? Does a call centre ring you up and ask you if you are interested?

Thailand 0.40.

they ever hear of quality control and something called TESTING ?

Or install "Whoscall" which does work.

Another massive step backwards for 'Thailand -4'    Lol.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA :cheesy:

I often wonder how Thailand manages to function at all, They never seem to anything properly. Listing them would be a new topic which I can't be bothered to start as I'd be accused of Thai-bashing by people who happily accept the lower standards here. The country will forever be stuck at developing nation status as long as they refuse to learn from the experience that foreigners can offer. And introduce a meaningful education system.

High level scams are global, sometimes under the friendly protection of corrupt police or military...you or I cannot change it or erradicate it...

What each individual can do is just to plainly walk away, as many cheated victims of White Collar Crime were lured into scams on falacious beliefs in making a fast buck...

Don't get greedy, if it's too good to be true, just walk away....

This could have been a minor blow to the Police and Army that protect the boiler room scammers and their businesses in Thailand.

Cold calling local expats to sell worthless investments is one of their key scams.

No surprise this app doesn't work, they struggle to make a cup of coffee properly here.

Difficult to make decent coffee with the ground charcoal they all seem to use here.

Proud little buggers.. arent they

But their greatness is just an illusion of how pathetic they really are.. after all.. the big boy says they are smart
