BANGKOK: -- The Sport Authority of Thailand (SAT) is preparing to call for entities in the private sector to bid for the rights to organise MotoGP World Championship in Thailand.

Buriram International Circuit is expected to be a top bidder.

The cabinet on March 21 this year agreed in principle for Thailand to contend for the rights to host MotoGP World Championship for three years (2018-2020) as proposed by the Tourism and Sports Ministry.

The cabinet also approved a budget of about 300 million baht from to support the events for three years.
