Breast check up - Clinic recommendation?

Featured Replies

Hi

I recently felt a small cyst in my left breast. So I'd like to go to see a doctor for a check up. I purposely would like to avoid any big hospitals like Bumrungrad, since it's too expensive and long queue.

Does anyone know any small clinics where I can have breast ultrasound or x-ray in Bangkok? Any recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

No small clinics, you need to go to the OPD dept of a hospital. In Bangkok that is where doctors do their outpatient work, small  clinics are very rare and almost always best avoided.

There is no queue at Bumrungrad - quite the contrary. You can make an appointment online directly with a specialist and there is usually no wait either for appointments or when you show up.  The doctors I prefer to recommend for breast problems  are there: Prof. Wichai Vassanasiri (male) and Prof. Youwanush Kongdan (female).

It is true however that Bumrungrad is expensive. As that seems to be an issue, I suggest you go to St Louis Hospital on Sathorn Rd. Here, there will be more of a wait as it is first come, first serve, but usually not too bad.  I can't recommend a specific doctor there as their website is only in Thai, but when you register on the ground floor for a patient number, explain the problem to the nurse there and let her direct you.

You will likely need a fine needle aspiration.

Yeah I thought there won't be much small clinic options.. thanks for this - I think I don't have much options but will go back to Bumrungrad as usual :)

Sorry for butting in on the ladies forum. My wife and many of her friends (all members of the medical profession) use the services of this hospital for mammograms and other female related problems.  Chulabkorn Hospital. Its a Govt hospital on the way to Don Mueng Airport that has a good reputation for cancer treatment. This brochure from last year shows mammograms 2,700 Baht.

The hospital is very modern, efficient and clean.
